He was one of the few surviving members of the Untheric pantheon, after the Orcgate Wars, where most of them died fighting against Gruumsh and other orcish gods, and was evetually chased away from Unther by Ramman, the war god.

After Ao threw the gods out their realms, Hoar possessed the body of Hippartes, got weapons from Thay, and went to pursue Revenge against Ramman. Though he managed to kill the war god, he was unable to get the portfolio of war, which was taken by Anhur.
