AD&D Monster Card

The crocotta, also known by a shit-ton of variant spellings such as corocotta, crocuta and leucrocotta (which is technically the offspring of a lion and a crocotta) is a mythical beastie born out of ancient Greek descriptions of hyenas. It is said to have the head of a badger, the cloven hooves of a deer, a lion's mane and tail, a mouth that stretches back to its ears, and two unbroken ridges of bone instead of teeth. It can mimic human speech, which it uses to lure victims.

Dungeons and Dragons (and its derivatives, such as Pathfinder) uses the spelling leucrotta for this monster, which has appeared in every edition except 4th.
