Ralph Bakshi was an animation guy who relied heavily on rotoscoping for his character-models. So his animations are, like the original Prince of Persia games, heavily lifelike for their time (excepting Disney's, but Disney was generations ahead of the curve).
Bakshi did Wizards. He also did Fire and Ice based on Frank Frazetta characters. The animation was okay. The STORY was decidedly meh.
Bakshi also did an animated The Lord of the Rings, but only the first half - because The Producers wouldn't allow him to clarify it was only the 1st part, thinking that nobody would see it if it was only half of the story, and while the film was a financial success, turns out people were pissed at it not being the entire thing, so The Producers decided not to give him the cash to finish the damn thing.
