'''THE GRAND DAD EMPIRE''' ARE a prolific VINESAUCE-centric MEME group based in BEDROCK CITY. Their largest periods of activity seemed to be around the time SILVAGUNNER was terminated, when they were hosting several unofficial VINESAUCE gaming events (which they assure you repeatedly are ''not'' official Tournaments and are in no way affiliated with JOEL).

They operated out of the SilvaGunner YouTube channel until it was terminated in 2014, after which they appear to have transitioned briefly to GiivaSunner in September of 2016 before returning to SilvaGunner in June of 2018.

== EVENTS ==
For Dutch players, the PRTL would probably be your AA unit of choice given its cost efficiency and the fact that they are company level units rather than divisional support: you can bring several platoons of PRTLs to the field. In a single company however, the Stinger is a legitimate option if you need to get more anti-air but lack the points for a second company.
The VINESAUCE MEME events that The GRAND DAD EMPIRE held were known for being diverse and involved, due in large part to their incredibly strong YTP scene.  These events would involve VINESAUCE-branded fan-made HIGH-QUALITY RIPS for SONGS that wouldn't exist for nearly a decade, and some that still don't!  They also hosted some of the first KING FOR ANOTHER DAY tournaments, with fan HIGH-QUALITY RIPS.

In later years, an event known as GRAND FEST was hosting PREMIERES for GRAND DAD Fantasy, KING FOR ANOTHER DAY, GRANDmachine, HE THICC 69, and MEME Wars, as of 2019.
As with other infantry, expect these to survive plenty of fire unless focused on by the deadliest units of your enemy's army, like heavy artillery and Brutal MBTs. They might lack small arms for self-defence, but have 4+ assault if needed.

== HIGH-QUALITY RIPS and MEMES ==
The Stinger Peloton comes in units of 2 or 3, at 3 or 5 points each.
Some HIGH-QUALITY RIPS appear to have seen releases or updates in 5th and 6th edition.  Note that The GRAND DAD EMPIRE seem to have been most active between 2012 and 2019.

In Team Yankee[edit | edit source]

The Stinger is a dangerous anti-air weapon, used by Dutch MANPADS (man-portable air defence systems) teams to support PRTL (Gepard) platoons in the field.

Unlike Soviet Strelas or German Redeyes, Stingers are one of the few MANPADs with FP 4+: meaning that unlike the token offering of other nations, these units actually have a strong chance of killing aircraft when fired in numbers. It loses the mobility of the PRTL, but has the potential to dig in and, in some cases, can be deployed in their foxholes from the start of the game. They also have an 8" range advantage over the PRTL's 40" Radar 35mms.

As with other infantry, expect these to survive plenty of fire unless focused on by the deadliest units of your enemy's army, like heavy artillery and Brutal MBTs. They might lack small arms for self-defence, but have 4+ assault if needed.

The Stinger Peloton comes in units of 2 or 3, at 3 or 5 points each.

IRL[edit | edit source]

The FIM-92 Stinger was introduced in 1981 as a direct upgrade to the Vietnam era FIM-43 Redeye. The stock of Redeyes were pawned off to the Afghan mujahideen to little effect. In 1985, America supplied the jihadis with the new hotness and Soviet helicopter kills increased dramatically.

Both systems were designed to give infantrymen something to shoot at aircraft that stood at least a chance of actually bringing the target down. While still useless against high speed jets and high altitude bombers, against helicopters and slow close air support aircraft the Stinger trades quite well, reportedly achieving a 79% kill rate in the Soviet-Afghan war.

The FIM-92 remains in use as of 2020, although the US and NATO have started making noises about wanting something newer.
