'''VeloCITY: The Wind in your Hair''' is set to be a roleplaying game that sets the players in the shoes, skates, on the boards, or even bikes of the gangs of Velo City.

In production, Nothing Man and a number of fa/tg/uys are putting great deals of effort into getting this game going, and in the first few days of production, had most of the fluff done and even some writefaggotry.

'''VeloCITY: The Wind in your Hair''' is a [[/tg/'s_homebrews|/tg/ homebrew system]] designed to replicate the feel and freedom of running around an urban playground and going anywhere. Taking its main inspiration from the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_Set_Radio Jet Set Radio] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Gear Air Gear] franchises, the game's focus is on freedom of movement, radical action, oodles of style, and several varieties of sticking it to the man.
The game takes heavy inspiration from the Jet Set Radio and Air Gear franchises. The game is intended to be as realistic or as over-the-top as the MC (master of ceremonies, analogous to GM) desires.

== Classes ==

Gameplay is to be divvied up between four player classes: Runners, 'Bladers, 'Boarders, and Bikers. Each different class has theirs own advantages and disadvantages in mobility and fighting.

=== Runners ===
Taking place on the artificial island metropolis of Velo City, players take on the role of "rudies": all manners of young punks, vagabonds and daredevils with a tune in their ear and color in their hearts; their main gimmick is that they rely on the four types of human-powered movement: running, rollerskating, skateboarding and biking. In the urban playground, the players will follow the people of Velo and learn of their ambitions and struggles. Between the police and the corporate overworld, rudies fight to cut out a niche of their own in the city. With varying degrees of power level and a system that plays fast and loose, the game can be as realistic or over-the-top as the players desire.
Runners practice parkour, the art of movement. They are limited in that they have no personal vehicle, but unlimited since this means they also have no limit on their turning, and as such they have insane levels of maneuverability when compared to other classes. They can climb up building sides with ease, and have unique abilities of misdirection in combat. A runner can be as fancy as he desires, but generally he stresses efficiency in movement.

=== Bladers ===
The initial idea sparked a firestorm of creativity that resulted in numerous threads on /tg/ fluffing out Velo City and its inhabitants. Great interest was expressed in the game as a whole as more and more content was created. Unfortunately, interest died down as the years went on (though there is still interest even today), and between messy rules, multiple sets of rules confusing people, and all other kinds of issues, the project fell into the dreaded "homebrew limbo": it was not quite dead, but no one was holding their breath to see it completed any time soon. On June 25, 2013, however, a completely new design document appeared, taken from the latest design document up to that point and completely rewritten and reworked from the ground up; save for a few particular mechanics, the entire system had been overhauled. New updates are forthcoming including adding fluff, refinement of rules and other upkeep and presentation changes.
The wheels of choice for a blader are rollerblades or any sort of inline skates. Bladers are tricksters, and masters of flight, they may as well have wings on their feet. They tend to be out-style any other class, and can get higher. They have mediocre speed, and maneuverability second only to the runners, and in combat tend to gravitate towards weapons- there's nothing quite like the sound of a pipe slamming into someone's back at 25 miles per hour.

=== Boarders ===
The project is supported by the #VeloCITY channel on irc.rizon.net, for those interested in the system. One may also join the VeloCITY Discord located [https://discord.gg/t8FxpWm here]. Keep in note that anything not specifically created by the makers of VeloCITY are copyrighted to their respective owners. The makers don't take any credit, and make no money from this project. The game is currently maintained by Mr. Blue Sky, who also does work on [[Super Mario RPG]].
Boarders prefer anything with a deck, be it a skateboard, longboard, off-road board, what have you. They are the jacks of all trades, masters of none. Average speed, average air, good tricks, average turning. The thing that makes them unique is that they have some tricks that mimic the styles of all the other classes. That, plus skateboards make great improvised weapons, truck slaps fucking hurt.

=== Bikers ===
Bikers are the fastest of the lot, they have few tricks and their maneuverability isn't that good and they don't accelerate as well as others but once they reach max speed they are the indomitable masters of the straightaway, and if you give them a ramp they'll soar far.

VeloCITY: The Wind in your Hair is a /tg/ homebrew system designed to replicate the feel and freedom of running around an urban playground and going anywhere. Taking its main inspiration from the Jet Set Radio and Air Gear franchises, the game's focus is on freedom of movement, radical action, oodles of style, and several varieties of sticking it to the man.

The project is supported by the #VeloCITY channel on irc.rizon.net, for those interested in the system. One may also join the VeloCITY Discord located here. Keep in note that anything not specifically created by the makers of VeloCITY are copyrighted to their respective owners. The makers don't take any credit, and make no money from this project. The game is currently maintained by Mr. Blue Sky, who also does work on Super Mario RPG.
