Aurumvoraxes are giant eight-legged weasels from D&D that eat gold (the name is pseudo-latin for gold-eater). Dwarves have a love-hate relationship with them, since tamed aurumvoraxes can be used to sniff out gold deposits, but wild ones have been known to devour entire treasuries. This diet is what gives the aurumvorax it's shiny golden coat, as subspecies adapted to eating other minerals have differently colored hides.
