The gist of it is, some Tanarean ruins have just opened up, of the late Mystical Kingdom's (lol) capital Arcana (rotfl). You're off to the capital of the current Empire to register your party. There's a murder investigation leading to a prison. Then you (hopefully) get out to start the real adventure. The "Realms of Madness" would be that ex-Wasteland surrounding Arcana.
The backstory is, some Tanarean ruins have just opened up, of the late Mystical Kingdom's (lol) capital Arcana (rotfl). The current Empire has "annexed" this ex-Wasteland... on paper. The "Realms of Madness" would be that ex-Wasteland so, the Emperor's Writ needs help. Enter you guys. You're off to the capital of said Empire to volunteer FOR ADVENTURE.
