Scale Armor (not scale mail) is a type of body armor made by covering cloth or leather in metal scales with bits of string or wire. Scale armor has been in use since at least the Bronze Age by the Pharaohs of Egypt since at least the 15th century BCE and would be used in various froms by various cultures in Europe, Asia and Africa.
