Those oil oozing motherfuckers made their apperance during a very obscure insurrection on Magma Cordelian.The Planetary Governor turned his entire palace in a summoning circle and until the Primaris Psykers realized what it was going on, it was already too late, The Cleaved were already summoned and massacred the Iridian Regiment of Guardsmen.

In 891.M39, The Cleaved appeared out of nowhere with a newly materialized Space Hulk, had a good ol' tussle with Dark Angels, which they lost...obviously. Sometime after the creation of the Great Rift, the Cleaved along with the Chaos Marines Malevolent [The Purge] and Death Guard raided the Iron Hands planet of Medusa.

This Warbands trait is their high treshold to pain and oil like oozing armor which make them look like they came out of the dirtiest sewer the Grimdark Universe of W40K can offer
