You are a single celled carbon based organism.
You are not a prion, a viroid, a virus, a DNA strand in the primordial soup or a multicellular organism.
You start with one organism.
Your starting organism can use as many DNA points as you want and starts with one phase of life.
Your starting phase of life has 240 food points. Calculate your total food points after you have calculated all your DNA points.
You do not need to use too many DNA points or all your food points. The more DNA you have the easier it is to build up deleterious mutations over time. The bigger you are the more food you require and the more resources it takes to reproduce.
Add a new phase of life
- 3 DNA points
Add yet another phase in your organism's life cycle. Perhaps, this stage of life is spore like or maybe it is a parasitical stage of life or maybe it is something else?
Choose at least one
You cannot be an endosymbiote or parasite of an organism smaller than you.
- Freeliving
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- Endosymbiote
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- Intracellular parasite
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Nucleus
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Choose how many copies of your DNA this phase of life contains (ploidy)
- 3 DNA points
- N * DNA points food points
Backup copy of DNA
- 3 DNA points
- 0.25 * ploidy * DNA points food points (round up)
Cytoskeleton
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- Required for freeliving phases of life (endosymbiotes and intracellular parasites don't need this)
Anerobic respiration
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- For freeliving organisms you or an endosymbiote of you must have this
Choose at least one
Binary fission
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Budding
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Sexual Reproduction
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Meiosis
A phase of life with 2 N ploidy can split into another phase of life with N ploidy.
Binary Fusion
A phase of life with N ploidy can combine with another phase of life that also has N ploidy and the Binary Fusion trait.
Flagellum(a)
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Cilia
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Ameboid (Cannot have Cell wall)
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Endosymbiote(s)
Create a new cellular organism and use that as your endosymbiote(s). Each type of endosymbiote has their own pool of DNA points. Multiple copies of the same type of endosymbiote(s) multiplies the amount of food points used but not DNA points used. An endosymbiote in your phase of life contributes to your total size in your phase of life.
Thylakoids stacks
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- Creates sugars out of sunlight, carbon and water
- Also creates oxygen (a powerful poison and fuel)
Cell wall
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Protect yourself against hard knocks and osmotic pressure.
Choose a type of cell wall: glycophosphate, silica, chitin or cellulose.
Aerobic metabolism
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- Requires oxygen to use
- Makes you go much faster
- Requires you to use the dangerous poison oxygen
Contractile Vacuole
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Pump out salt water and maintain isotony
Ion pump
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
Pumps out positively (hydrogen pump) or negatively (sodium-potassium pump) charged ions for electrical communication purposes.
Choose a type of ion pump: hydrogen or sodium-potassium pump.
Colony Organism
- 3 DNA points
- 3 food points
- Requires Ion pump
