This is essentially the Covenants answer to a Imperial Auxiliary Grenade Launcher, with stronger damage and concussive force compared to a frag round , but without the sheer armor piercing ability of a Krak round.  The "Plasma" is stored in battery chambers meaning that it reloads rather then recharges, this makes it much more efficient then their Imperial Counterparts.

The Covenant Concussion Rifle was developed as an anti-Infantry suppressor weapon.

Direct Energy Heavy/Concussion

This is essentially the Covenants answer to a Imperial Auxiliary Grenade Launcher, with stronger damage and concussive force compared to a frag round , but without the sheer armor piercing ability of a Krak round. The "Plasma" is stored in battery chambers meaning that it reloads rather then recharges, this makes it much more efficient then their Imperial Counterparts. When shot, like most Covenant Plasma weapons, the weapon envelope the escaping Plasma with a weak magnetic field that one it hits an object; the magnetic field suddenly and easily implodes, causing the unstable Plasma to react with the sudden loss of vacuum and explode. This explosion releases massive amount of radiation, heat and energy, and could melt or vaporize anything within a twenty-meter radius.
