| In an ironic twist, it may be that the very idea of the Daemonculaba isn't all that original at all! There is good reason to suspect that the concept, like many things in W40k, or hell, even sci-fi in general, was stolen from Dune!

| Namely these assholes, the Bene Tleilaxu, the only group to do genetic manipulation in an age when most of humanity has regressed technologically. At times described as a collection of amoral slave-traders, biomedical fabricators, and assassins, and other times described as the greatest religious nutjobs in the galaxy, one thing is for sure - they skipped all of the subtle human training and manipulating everyone else likes for good-old-fashioned Dr. Mengele science. From agricultural products, slaves, and gholas (clones made from dead cells that occasionally have the original's memories and personality), they all came from one source: the Axlotl Tank. What this is was left in the darkness for much of the series, but given that no one had seen a Tleilaxu female in thousands of years, and that some of the gholas to recover their memories recall monstrous mounds of flesh and metal containers as their "mothers" we all see where this was going. By the last book they remaining Tleilaxu actually start sharing this technology with a few others (who graciously donate their own highly-trained females to create some very high-end Tanks) so it's and it's flat-out stated that they reproduce through massive disjointed womb factories that were the remnants of their female sex.

| The kicker? The Tleilaxu produce all of their biological products with Axlotl Tanks, including domestic animals (the only one described being a cow-sized pig-slug that feeds on garbage), drugs for the galactic market, and shape-shifting hermaphrodite sex slaves and warriors, so the women turned into Axlotl Tanks are birthing other animals far more often than humans. Then again, the Tleilaxu themselves aren't really human at this point but rather anemic midgets with different breeds for different roles in society like an insect colony, so it's just a horror-show all around. The masters consider the face-dancer caste as inhuman sterile mules made to serve them, while they are fairly inhuman and don't reproduce normally either. To add the the horror, the males see having sex with a female as absolutely disgusting and impure, and they do have to make more females to make more tanks, since they decay, and at this point since it is a factory system, the girls are raised with no education or any form of family, being raised in cells, and are turned into tanks before they hit puberty, that is to say, at the age of roughly 10-12, depending.

| Frank Herbert, the author of Dune, in his genius, makes sure that if the reader didn't understand the moral lesson they would get the karma one and thus an introduction to the morals of universal suffrage. Eventually, the Tleilaxu Masters slip up and one of the females escapes the process of becoming an axoxtl tank and is smart enough to learn on her own and helps lead an uprising. In their primordial rage, these women declare they shall never be subjugated for the sex again and title themselves the Honored Matres, or honored mothers, and also create a culture of male segregation and degradation, becoming highly aggressive sexual predators that go from system to system raping men and making them slaves and inducting more women into their ranks, and they live in a constant state of competition for leadership, and all advances in rank are taken by killing summon higher up. This is a sensual rape machine of a society, as compared to the Tleilaxu's stone cold rape machine religion, for they believed they honored God in what they did. Eventually, it ran into a force of it only called "The Enemy (which is not being placed here for spoiler purposes, although this spoils a lot already)" and hightails it back into known space where they upset the balance of the Old Empire and eventually the now more virtuous mostly led female nation-order, the Bene Gesserit, takes over their leadership per Honored Matre tradition and brings the two together to face approaching "Enemy". Herbert shows how evil misogyny is and also shows that it can create an opposite force of just as evil nature out of vengeance, which can only be soothed by empathetic, determined, strong, goodness.

| This article contains PROMOTIONS! Don't say we didn't warn you. |
The Daemonculaba was the epitome of sickfuckery in Warhammer 40,000. It was a HOLY FUCK tier mad science project which, using stolen gene-seed, allowed for the creation of new Chaos Space Marines. It was first conceptualized by the Iron Warriors Traitor Legion, with the Warsmith Honsou overseeing it.
So what made it so fucked-up and evil?
The Daemonculaba process began by rounding up some human females as slaves. Once corralled, they were shackled naked within iron cages and force-fed nutrients causing their bodies to widen and bloat to unfathomably grotesque proportions, which probably wouldn't have even been possible were they not in the Eye of Terror. Next, absolutely fucking mad scientists called Savage Morticans (former members of the Adeptus Mechanicus' biological division corrupted by Chaos) utilized surgical and chemical techniques as well as Chaos magicks to radically alter the slaves' insides and embed them with stolen gene-seed. The 'birthing-womb' thus readied, an adolescent human male was then sealed within -- by performing what was essentially a 'reverse c-section.'
Days later, the candidate is reborn -- without any skin. Provided they weren't already dead, the candidate was then inspected to see if it was physically worthy to be a Chaos Space Marine. If it wasn't, it was literally flushed out the sewers to die in the barren wastelands surrounding the fortress laboratories. Occasionally though, the rejected creatures survived being cast out and many of these banded together as scavenger-hunters known as the Unfleshed (who happened to worship the Emperor and built an effigy of him).
If the candidate passed the inspection, flesh would be cross-stitched onto its body and its new life as a Chaos Space Marine would begin. The skin was harvested from the flayed bodies of human slaves; whose flesh had been painfully stretched to vast proportions before being removed while they were still alive.
The system could also use genetic material extracted from Iron Warrior corpses, which would then be implanted within the Daemonculabu.
As for the Daemonculabu themselves, if they happened to survive the birthing process, the cycle would days later begin anew, with them again being used as surrogate birthing-wombs...
And then Slaanesh is just looking at all this with interest, his eyes narrowed, and he says; "hmm, that's an interesting act, what do you call yourselves?" and Honsou sticks his chest out and goes; "The Aristocrats!"
It is rumored that the idea for the Daemonculaba wasn't actually Honsou's, but that only someone as evil as Honsou would ask for advice from the /d/arkest place in the galaxy and actually take it seriously.
Destruction
Varro Tigurius of the Ultramarines had a really horrible nightmare about the Daemonculaba, and Marneus Calgar ordered the then recently dishonoured Uriel Ventris and Pasanius Lysane to go and destroy it. With the help of the Unfleshed, Uriel and Pasanius succeeded, but Honsou was left filled with such rage that he started gathering an army to wipe out Ultramar.
This is still roughly twice as romantic as Breaking Dawn.
