A genre not really all that similar to Steampunk. It's roughly Edwardian-to-WW2, or 'between-the-wars' in terms of technology. Everything is run on diesel, there are electrical systems but NO electronics and importantly NO information technology systems. We got vaccuum tubes and radio though. Fun stuff.
Last Exile is an anime with this type of setting. Ridiculous flying/hovering planes in the shape of vans, zero electronics to help them.
