A genre not really all that similar to [[Steampunk]].
It's roughly Edwardian-to-WW2, or 'between-the-wars' in terms of technology. Everything is run on diesel, there are electrical systems but NO electronics and importantly NO information technology systems. We got vacuum tubes and radio though. Fun stuff.
Last Exile is an anime with this type of setting. Ridiculous flying/hovering planes in the shape of vans, zero electronics to help them. And a hell of a lot of flying battleships powered by steam and floatyrocks.
[Actually... see the talk page, but Last Exile is closer to steampunk than anything else, such as dieselpunk... moar Encyclopaedia Britannica for you.]
