Ghoritch, Castellan of Hell Pit, is a semi-official Skaven special character introduced in 6th edition via issue #311 of White Dwarf magazine.
Ghoritch was the first ever success that Throt the Unclean had in his then-nascent experiments in transplanting brains between different creatures; originally a human being, Throt managed to transfer Ghoritch's brain into a skaven body without losing the old personality or even driving him mad in the bargain! Throt has come to rue this success. See, in his first life, Ghoritch was a Chaos Champion devoted to Khorne, who pissed off Archaon by getting his troops massacred in a failed attack on an Empire artillery train- an attack that Archaon had told Ghoritch not to make. In revenge, Archaon gave Ghoritch to Throt. Now, putting the mind of a pissed off Chaos Champion in a skaven body would have been bad enough, but Throt put Ghoritch's brain in the body of a roided-up Rat Ogre with experimental bionic arms. The resultant abomination promptly tore its way out of Throt's labs and fought its way up the Hell Pit, killing everything that stood in his way.
Before Throt could hope to drown Ghoritch in dead mutants, the other Mastor Mutators of Clan Moulder took notice. They were very impressed with Ghoritch, and offered to let him have his freedom by joining Clan Moulder as a beastmaster, wrangling their more destructive and unruly creations. With little else left to him, Ghoritch agreed and soon worked his way up the ranks to Castellan of Hell Pit, the leader of Clan Moulder's personal standing army. Throt is less than pleased that this rebellious "failed" experiment has come so far, constantly seeking clandestine ways of dethroning Ghoritch with little success, and the feeling is mutual; Ghoritch would love to get his not-Power Klaws on the Mutator's throat (har) for what he's become.
Ghoritch is a Lord choice for a Skaven Army. He has Movement 6, Weapon Skill 6, Ballistic Skill 0, Strength 5, Toughness 5, Wounds 4, Iniative 5, Attacks 5, and Leadership 7. He wears no armor and wields his Piston-Driven Claws. He has the following special rules:
- Castellan of Hell Pit: Ghoritch can only be taken in a Hell Pit Skaven Variant army, and when taken, he must be your general.
- Cause Fear
- Beastmaster: All Clan Moulder units within 6" of Ghoritch can re-roll any failed Psychology tests.
- Brain Transplant: Ghoritch is Frenzied, but if he ever loses his Frenzy, then he suffers from Stupidity for the rest of the battle.
- Piston-Driven Claws: Ghoritch's melee attacks ignore Armor saves.
Total War: WARHAMMER
Recently, he's appeared in Total War: WARHAMMER 2 in the Twisted and the Twilight DLC, indicating he might be canon. On one hand, he is "merely" a Hero choice available only to Throt (one can only imagine how much that pisses him off). On the other hand, Ghoritch tears through infantry like nobody's business, and one of his skills essentially turns him into a rat ogre-sized blender. His in-game design borrows several elements from the Stormfiends, implying that he serves as their prototype in the TW universe.
