Mal's first message

hello!

my name is malachi ortega and i pilot beta unit 00. we have fought some nacaals and an angel too! the first nacaal was easy and only two of us had to work at beating it, but then the second one was harder and we kept shooting it and it wouldn't die so chris had to shoot some lightning that came out of it back at the thing. then we fought an angel, it was like a big whale. it nearly bit my feet off!

my hobbies include reading and being with my friends. i am a nerd in some ways, i like to read about the angels and stuff, but i am also quite social. today is a bit sad for me though, asuka from tokyo is leaving, she has been here for quite a long time but her eva was fixed. they stopped here to pick up the core from the second nacaal which it dropped without breaking because the rest of it was made of jelly and it landed on the beach.

for tips for a new pilot: i am quite new so i can't help much! however i would say that trying too hard is a bad thing. i find piloting evas much better if you work with the eva at a constant pace with it, rather than trying to ride it like a bike or something.

Hiii Mal!

My name is Hiika Brace. I'm named after Pele's sister Hi'iaka (you say it like He-ee-ah-ka) from Hawaiian mythology. Your name sounds like it's named after something cool too.

I'm the pilot of Ex Unit 01 in Hawaii, we were the test units, but now we have Nacall attacking us too! We fought three already. The First two Nacaal attacked together, they looked like two big ugly dogs! When Greg (he's from Ireland and is really good with guns) shot the first one it went KA-BOOM! I stabbed the second one in the core and it didn't explode though. The next Nacall was this big hydra thing. It tried to pull Donny (he was in the Marines, he's cool!) under the water but I pulled it out with my AT field, I didn't know I could do that! Each time we hit it, it grew another head and core, Eventually it grew too many heads and exploded again! It must be cool being able to get a whole core intact, ours usual go KA-BOOM!

You fought a REAL Angel! That's cool, I wish I could fight an Angel. I've been training all my life to fight angels so I was real excited when the first attack happened, but Dr Brace says it's not a real Angel. But it's cool, I'll fight all the monsters that attack earth!

NEPTUNE says another one is going to attack in a few weeks. I can't wait! Dr Brace showed us a video of it making some UN battleships disappear! I bet Maia (that's our operations director, she's got one eye and talks funny!) will come up with some cool trick so we can fight it!

i must first say that i am a bit jealous! none of ours have really done much exploding. there was one but it wasnt very interesting.

we fought a kind of easy nacaal a while ago. it had big legs and a wierd bird head and it shot ice at us. i dont think any of our evas even took damage though. i swam under the ice and got its leg! it was really cool. sonya and chris went kind of crazy when they saw it though! i dont see whats to be scared of. i mean its big and stuff but what can it do to you even? ice doesnt hurt.

anyway how did your battle go? i am a bit late in answering this message so i think you will have fought it. you should come over when theres a quiet bit. bring your evas, i want to see them! on that subject i want to see if i can visit tokyo soon. my japanese isnt very good though, but it will be fun to try! their evas are kind of neater than most of ours.

We haven't fought that Nacall just yet, we still have 48 hours before it hits land. NEPTUNE located it TWO MONTHS AGO but we've just been letting the Pacific fleet tail it the whole time. I wanted to engage at sea, but the other pilots said something about us not being properly equipped for marine engagements. (probably just afraid of watter, figures.) By the time you get this the battle will probably be over though. Keep wishing me luck!

You have people who always freak out too? It's crazy isn't it! I don't understand why people get so worked up about this kind of thing. Running away won't make anything better. In the last briefing the kid from japan actually suggested we EVACUATE and let the monsters take Hawaii! What the fuck! I hate him Soooooo Much!

If japan is anything like him, I wouldn't go there. You should come to Hawaii instead, I'd love to meet you.

hi!

wow that must be annoying. we dont usually find out until its right nearby or something. i dont think we have even seen it in pictures before we were thrown into a fight! it doesnt really matter, they dont usually give us much trouble.

what sort of stuff do the other pilots freak out about? and how well do you get on with the other pilots? i get on quite well with chris, shes really small but cool. i had an argument with liz recently but ive known her forever so its kind of different, were cool now. sonya is never around much, i think she has other friends so we dont talk too much. we all live in the same house though which is kind of odd i guess but asuka says she lives with a pilot too so i dont know what to think. do you?

also why would you evacuate? whats the point in having a base if you evacuate it when the thing you built the base against actually comes? that doesnt even make any sense.

but i will come to hawaii soon if i am allowed! predictions and stuff are hard but i will try and come after the next nacaal comes because theres normally a big gap between them. i dont know how long it will be until the next one though.

also i cant find a picture thats much good. there is a file photo but i look silly.

Sorry this took so long! Maill got disrupted by the Nacaal attack. We should probably stop using snail maill. My Email address is Hiika.Brace@UOH.edu I also have xoxLittleBrownGirlxox@yahoo.com but my sister uses that, and firstchild@hawaii.NERV but thats supposed to be for official use only.

We had a great plan to kill this Nacaal but Donny started acting funny and just sorta froze up, It wasn't it wasn't for Saito we would have lost! He held his ground and helped me neutralize the field (which was suposed to be Donny's job, idiot!) He also saved me from the nacaal's big disappearing attack. I though he was dumb but he's getting much better. I wounder if I should go easy on him now? He's still the new kid.

No fair about not sending a pic! My pic is dumb too, I need to stop holding my mouth open like that when I smile, I look like an idiot showing everyone my mouth, and it's not like I can't check myself to see if I accidentally bit my tongue.
