A male Mary Sue can be referred to as a Gary Stu or Marty Stu, although this is very rare on /tg/.

Unfortunately, after so many [[shitstorm]]s and [[troll]]threads, /tg/'s definition of a Mary Sue is not as clear as it used to be, now generally including any character that the poster in question doesn't like, regardless of whether or not they actually fit the technical criteria. For example, anything that /tg/ thinks has even a hint of [[weeaboo]] is typically also described as a Mary Sue. Misuse of the term in this manner easily makes oldfags [[RAGE]].
Unfortunately, after so many [[shitstorm]]s and [[troll]]threads, /tg/'s definition of a Mary Sue has gone the way of [[weeaboo]]; no one can agree on what it means, to the point where the mere mention of the phrase is enough to set off shitstorms across the board.

Some accept nothing less than the above description, and will sooner gut you then look at if you say it's anything else. Others prefer a more generalized definition, which refers to an overly-idealistic character who exerts an unjust amount of influence upon their respective setting. Others still carry this meaning out to extremes, and use the term to describe anyone who isn't a brooding sociopath with an alignment of chaotic neutral.

He's a goddamn Mary Sue and you know it.

Originally a Mary Sue is a character that is a shameless self-insert, poorly developed, without flaws and stupidly overpowered. /tg/ hates Mary Sues.

Unfortunately, after so many shitstorms and trollthreads, /tg/'s definition of a Mary Sue has gone the way of weeaboo; no one can agree on what it means, to the point where the mere mention of the phrase is enough to set off shitstorms across the board.
