Meatshield is a common piece of gamer slang that refers to a character (player or NPC) whose main use in combat is that the enemy is focused on hitting them and not the actually important characters (typically yours). The Fighter is the archetypal Meatshield class in RPGs, and Conjurers traditionally specialize in creating veritable armies of meatshields through their summoned creatures.
