Meeple (a portmanteau of "my" and "people" - yes, really) are the little wooden figurines, used primarily in Eurogames but sometimes elsewhere, to represent the player's soldiers/farmers/whores.
People will stack their meeple while they're bored waiting for someone else to finish their turn. If the game is really bad, the meeple stacks will be more interesting than the game.
