In tabletop games overcosted is a term used to refer to assets that are too difficult to deploy for the value they provide. Intentionally contrasted with "overpriced", which generally refers to the item's actual monetary price (though the two frequently overlap).
Examples of Overcosted Things
- Carnifexes in 5th ed.
- Any Magic card released in the Legends block that didn't utterly break the game..
- Every single super-special-costs-more-than-an-SM-land-raider unit in Warhammer 40,000.
- Fully kitted out Vanguard Veterans. Giving a five man squad power weapons and jump packs brings them up to just below Terminator price,
- Dark Angel's Nephilim Jetfighter, exemplifies this concept. Cost more than it has a right to, with weak options.
- Khador's Man-O-Wars. As if being the worst heavy infantry in all of WarmaHordes wasn't bad enough, to top it off they're also overpointed.
