  "I noticed you have a card, the Three of Diamonds. May I ask you a few questions about it?" I asked.

  He touched it instinctively, saying in a threatening tone, "This here piece isn't for sale." I had dealt with plenty of tough characters in ym quest for knowledge, and he was not one of the most difficult ones.

"How does the Card preform?" He shrugged, "Prette good, I guess. It ain't neva let me down 'afore." Like all the other wielders the Three of Diamonds has. "How long have you had the Card?" He scratched his neck before answering. "I reckon 'bout seven years." By now, he had relaxed more and called for another drink. I paid for it. "May I ask how you came upon it?" This was important.
