The game focuses on providing a solid rules foundation for as many aspects of the setting as possible, with the goal of allowing players to explore almost any part of the universe, or play almost any character. This means that the game includes more than the "base" ten races seen in the video games, as well as rules for obscure forms of magic only found in the lore, amongst other goodies. Of course every game needs at least some focus, so the game is written assuming that most campaigns will take place in Tamriel, though nothing is stopping you from going elsewhere.

After a brief recruitment drive near the end of 2013, the developers announced that they would be expanding second edition beyond just a core rulebook to include a [[GM]] guide book (which will include a prewritten adventure), and a lore/setting book (which is meant to distill key parts of the setting into a digestible form for role-playing purposes). This was changed a few weeks later to a GM and Player handbook, with the lore/setting stuff split across the two as appropriate.

In June 2014 the developers went on a hiatus and posted the current version of the game. In October they resumed development with an expanded vision of the final product: the GM and Player Handbooks would remain, but they would be supported by several supplements containing additional content (much of which was originally to be found in one of the three main books) such as advanced magic, artifacts, and a full bestiary. This was done to reduce bloat in the main three books, and to make it easier for GMs to both reference and control their players use of the content in these supplements.

The Unofficial Elder Scrolls RPG (UESRPG) is a d100 RPG set in The Elder Scrolls setting. The last version of the first edition was 1.05. Second edition is currently in beta.

Second Edition

The second edition has been in development since the end of the summer of 2013. The developers are moving away from Dark Heresy for second edition, instead attempting to create a new system that solves issues with first edition. This new edition draws heavily from Runequest (for its combat system), though it does maintain a few structural elements from Dark Heresy.

The other goal of second edition is to expand on some of the parts of first edition that were never finished (Shehai Shen She Ru and Shadow Magic being the two big ones).

After a brief recruitment drive near the end of 2013, the developers announced that they would be expanding second edition beyond just a core rulebook to include both GM and Player Handbooks.

First Edition

The first edition was released on /tg/ in early 2013. Its mechanics are heavily influenced by the Dark Heresy system, to the point where it's basically a conversion. The first edition received updates up to the beginning of the summer of 2013 (version 1.05), at which point development stopped. The game is clunky in places, but functional, and also quite extensive.

Resources

The latest version of the game, older versions and editions, and additional resources (including character sheets) can always be found here.

You can follow the game's progress through the dev blog.

The game's developers hang out in #UESRPG on irc.thisisnotatrueending.com, and anyone is welcome to drop in and ask questions, give feedback, or post terrible Vivec fan-fiction.
