The Ash Waste Nomads are a culture of feral humans who inhabit the Hive World of Necromunda, eking out an existence in the polluted wastes that lay outside of the hive cities by traveling between the sparse patches of habitable terrain, sometimes trading with the Hivers and more frequently preying on them.
They made an appearance as a playable gang in the original 1997 Necromunda game, but were highly unpopular due to the fact the gang came with vehicles and thus was absurdly overpowered in a game that had been built around everybody footslogging it, in contrast to Gorkamorka.
They have since returned in the relaunch, now envisioned as a mixture of footsloggers (the vehicles are presumably parked off the battlefield) and riders on the backs of giant mutant bugs. Legend has it that they are descendants of the old Aranaeus Continuity and still bear a grudge against the Imperium for conquering their home.
