Wargear is equipment (that is, "gear") used in combat (that is, "war").
In the context of Warhammer 40,000, wargear refers to all of the equipment available for an army to use, like weapons and vehicle upgrades. Often, a codex will have a chapter dedicated to an army's wargear, which is usually divided into sections for Weapons (for soldiers) and Vehicle Upgrades, and may include other sections for whatever unique gimmicks the army has (personal armour, arcane weapons, and the like).
In Fourth Edition, there was a whole Codex dedicated to wargear, with sections for every army.
