8chan (called infinitechan) is an imageboard created by a cripple known as Hotwheels as an alternative to 4chan. Functionally, it differs from 4chan by increasing the file size limit to 5 megabytes, compared to 4chan's 3 megabytes, as well as allowing users to upload multiple images (or other files) to single posts. Additionally, .webm files may be played with audio natively within posts. 8chan is known as infinitechan because the number of boards is theoretically infinite, as any user can create their own board, instead of begging a site administrator to make it for you. | 8chan (called infinitechan) is an imageboard created by a cripple known as Hotwheels as an alternative to 4chan. the 8chan logo.
/tg/
8chan /tg/ is very similar to its counterpart on 4chan, with some marked differences. By user consensus, quest threads have been banned due to their excessive nature, and relegated to their own board /qu/. Aside from the removal of spam threads, moderation is minimal.
But why leave?
As mentioned above, 8chan was made as an alternative to 4chan. AS such, most of its users are those who have chosen not to use 4chan, and /tg/ is no exception to this. There are several reasons why people have chosen to leave 4chan, with a good amount of overlap. Some were merely along for the ride as /v/ and /pol/ users led their various exodus from 4chan, with the largest and most recent taking place in October 2014. Others were fed up with the sheer number of quest threads on the board, and the poor quality of most of these. Additional board users felt that heavy moderation made it difficult to properly enjoy the board. Finally, there were people who simply decided that Moot was a massive faggot, and didn't wish to patronize his site.
