Banshees are a Psychopomp from Irish Celtic Mythology, a species of Fey whose appearance as either a keening (screaming/wailing) woman or a woman washing bloodstained clothes in a river foretells of a person's death. In many /tg/ media, they are instead a kind of undead fey, with Dungeons & Dragons in particular turning them into the ghosts of evil elves whose scream literally kills anybody who hears it. They're a subset of Haunt in the Companion Set, so are turned like ghosts there.
