"If at first you don't succeed, blast it with your Blue-Eyes again!"

The OG

Blue-Eyes White Dragon is both the name of the titular monster card and the name of the archetype built around it. BEWD, (as it is shortened) is one of the oldest Yugioh monsters, it first appeared in Starter Box: Theatrical Release to celebrate the release of the first Yugioh movie by Toei. With a long history, Blue Eyes exists as a mascot of the franchise and as an instantly recognizable staple in the TCG. At 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF, BEWD was the OG beatstick, quite capable of taking on damn near the entirety of the card games roster and coming out without a scratch. Even today, you won't find too many non-boss effect monsters capable of taking it on 1v1, without support at least. A BEWD summoned with no support is dead as any other boss monster, with nothing to negate spell effects or trap effects, plus, there are quite a few dragon-focused killing cards that can make your life hell.

Archtype

Blue-Eyes White Dragon runs off a very simple and surprising formula that tends to win more often than not: slam as many Blue-Eyes White dragons & co. down your throat until you die. And to the surprise of many, this tactic works rather well. However, many Blue Eyes players utilize different methods of going about this and making sure their big beautiful dragons don't get swatted off the board or prevented from being summoned at all. Many of the effect versions of Blue-Eyes have effects that prevent, negate, or actively punish trying to remove a Blue-Eyes monster off the board. Unsurprisingly due to being a series mascot in the vein of Kuriboh, BEWD has support across pretty much all card types, XYZ, Synchro, Fusion, and Ritual. No Pendulum support has revealed itself just yet but many expect it.

Notable Cards

Maiden With Eyes of Blue

Kaiba's Waifu

Maiden with Eyes of Blue is an essential part of any Blue-Eyes focused deck, in addition to being a tuner useful for the summoning of Blue Eye's Synchro Monsters, her powerful effect assures that if your opponent so much as tries to do any sort of offensive action against your side of the field, they won't live to regret it. Cards that negate any sort of card activation during a specific step are essential for getting past this card, because of that Ancient Gear cards are particularly big roadblocks for a BEWD deck.

White Stone of Legend

Danger Rock #1

A quick and easy way of getting a BEWD to your hand though at the cost of a tuner, White Stone of Legend is not as essential as Maiden but should still have a spot in your deck. You cannot rely on the heart of the cards when drawing, you will brick and get fucked ten ways to Sunday by the will of the universe.

Kaibaman

Kaiba Kaiba, Kaibamaaaaaaan!

Black Dragon's Chick brother from another mother, tribute, special summon the titular monster. Watch out for negates.

Silver's Cry

I want my baby back baby back baby back...

Something of a multi-spectrum card, useable in many archetypes or deck themes such as a general Dragon, Red-Eyes, or Blue-Eyes deck.
