  "Excuse me sir, could I have a word with you?" The man in the bar slowly turned to me, "What's it to you?"   

"I noticed you have a card, the Three of Diamonds. May I ask you a few questions about it?" I asked. 
He touched it instinctively, saying in a threatening tone, "This here piece isn't for sale." I had dealt with plenty of tough characters in ym quest for knowledge, and he was not one of the most difficult ones.
