Brummbar

The Sturmpanzer 43. known more commonly from its Allied reporting name Brummbar was an infantry supporting assault gun used by the Wehrmacht and a unit in Flames of War. Boasting a 150mm gun, the Brummbar was designed to say "No" to any and all sorts of fortifications, especially in urban combat, areas that the Germans had some difficulties adapting.

The Brummbar was developed from the need for a low-profiled infantry support gun that could follow infantry into urban combat. Using a Panzer IV chassis, it was mounted initially with a Stuh 43 gun, until later an entire 800 kilos (1,800 lbs) was shaved off by reducing the armor of the gun itself. The vehicle went through 4 revisions using different chassis and other additional upgrades. The Brummbar was first put into combat at Kursk, where combat proved that additional armor for the driver's compartment was needed. However many Brummbars were abandoned due to the speed of the advancing soviet forces. A total of 306 were built, with the Brummbar serving at Kursk, Warsaw, and the Bulge.
