/MGW/ is a recurring thread on /tg/ with the aim to create a custom monstergirl setting. Largely based off of KC's Monster Girl Encyclopedia setting, but with the goal of rounding off the edges, and to take out some of the autism present there, perceived or otherwise.

The Setup

The Setup shares much in common with MGE- you had your bogstandard generic grimdark fantasy setting, filled with elves dwarves, and routine demon invasions everythousand years (much like the Blights in Dragon Age). And leading each genocidal invasion is a Demon Lord, an Icon of Sin, representing a deadly sin (while not too fleshed out, sloth would have been a necromancer). The Gods rally around the races of Man (Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Giants [a race as much taller than humans as humans are taller than dwarves]) and the allied Feykind together to push back the Demons and Monsters with aid of Angels and divinely empowered heroes. This formed the worlds largest religion, the Order.

There's also some stuff about whether or not their was a precursor race of early man that reached a post-scarcity society, and a time Dragons ruled the earth, but it's stuff no-one can agree on.

The important part of the timeline starts with the rise of the sixth Demon Lord, the Icon of Lust, a succubus (again much like MGE). She saw the cycle of violence and wished to end it, and teamed up with her future husband a former Hero, and the Goddess of Beauty, sister to the Chief God, and hatched a plot to overthrow the Gods. She also discovered a perpetual energy sex loop that can be gained if a Succubus just drains a little energy from her partner, rather than sex them to death. So the small group went and got her butt on the Demon Throne, and made her New Demon Lord, where she immediately gamed the system to make it so all monsters are all female, in a bid to end the cycle of violence. The Chief God however immediately caught wind of this, and zapped down to nip this problem in the bud, only to get fought to a standstill, and to retreat to Heaven.

However there were still some bugs in the system, where monsters aren't giving birth to males, and are still kinda rapey, so the Demon Lord hopes to keep accumulating more and more power, including by increasing the number of monsters, so she can bypass the Gods trying to cockblock her and finish her changes. The setting takes place roughly two-hundred years after her ascension to the Demon Throne.

Factions

Ideologies can roughly be split into three broad categories.

-Corruption: Corruption is the metaphysical force that can be used to transform people into monsters, and tool of Demons both for mindrape and actual rape, resulting in revulsion and horror, or conversely fetish fuel. However there are some pluses to being corrupted, good health, eternal beauty, and potentially fire breath, so for some it's an easy sell for some, and for some it's a hard sell. The Demon Lord is of course pro-corruption, and so are her forces, her allies, and her client states. There are other pro-corruption factions though, who aren't necessarily on the Demon Lords side, including Chaos Cultists (happy go-lucky worshippers of the Eldritch Abyss), the Apophis (Demon Serpents in the desert hunting revived Pharoahs) and others.

-HFY: Not a formal term, but there are amongst the non-corrupt population (the Divines, Humans, Demihumans, uncorrupted Fey and Elementals, etc.) are those who don't much care for corruption, or for monstergirls. This ranges from 'RIP AND TEAR', to 'I don't want them as my neighbors', to the most common 'well I deserve to be in charge'. The Order is the largest group among this faction, and it represents the 'I want to be in charge' angle. They used to be much more 'rip and tear' but Kobolds are cute, and too many of the states within the Order disliked the idea of getting rid of their Kobolds, so compromises had to be made. That- and stuff like Dragon Cavalry comes with obvious tactical benefits. Most monsters are second-hand citizens expected to serve the non-corrupt races, barred from certain rights such as holding property. On the other side of the Spectrum is the Red Order, much more 'rip and tear' who broke off from the Order proper, cause they didn't think they were putting enough monsters to the torch, and serve as combination Nazi, Terrorist, and Bond Villains.

-Coexistance: The third path that many minor powers caught in the middles or the sides, who think that monsters and non-monsters should be treated equally, and that corruption should not be forced on people. Many locations outside of the main showdown between the Order and Demon Lord are more coexistence, most notable Zipangu, the NOT!Japan of the setting (shamelessly lifted from MGE until anyone comes with a better name).

The Monstergirls

So of course the most important part of the setting is the Monstergirls. Your standard catgirls, Lamia, and Succubi are all here, and MGE is again often used as a guide, but most forms of monstergirls are present, including some thread-made ones. All monsters have a little bit of corruption of them, but they spread it at different rates. A succubus can transform a woman in the course of a night, with the help of a few candles and pentagrams, while a woman mauled by a pack of wild werewolves won't turn until the next full moon. So some monsters are more dangerous than others, and most monsters can leave peaceably with humans with the right precautions. While most monsters are at least somewhat corrupt, and have stronger instincts than non-monsters, they of course have free will, and are able to exercise control and restraint. Whether they want to is the question.

Monstergirls can be split into these categories-

- Demons: All Demons are now a form of Succubi, and come in various forms, from loli Imps, to Amazonian Balrogs. They are the most inherently corrupt of all monsters, and most of them come from the lands of the Demon Lord. They excel with charms, and are very magically inclined, many able to magically disguise themselves as Humans.

-Beastfolk: The half-men half-animal people, and very certainly on the weeb end of the spectrum (Furries are not tolerated). Many 'Wild' Beastfolk exist far from human or monster settlements, and most are nature worshippers of some kind, varying by race (dogs worship the moon, cats worship the sun). There are also large ammounts of 'domesticated' beastfolk, who have more suppressed instincts, and live amongst humans. Also includes some insect girls, and various reptiles.

-Plantfolk: Part Man, Part Plants.

-Undead: Even in death there is no escape. The Undead either have their souls prevented from leaving to the hereafter, and either exist as some form of ghost, or are reinserted into a corpse. Zombies start off as barely functional, but the more energy they take in (read: Semen) the more cognizant and more powerful they become.

-Dragons: Big burly flying fire-breathing lizards. Even they however are not out of the Demon Lords grasp- they are shapeshifters, capable of turning into a beast of legend, or into an anime cosplayer. The Dragon form takes energy, and they prefer not letting on how long they are in their monstergirl form for. While there are many wild dragons in their lairs, there is an Order Aligned state of Dragon Riders who have domesticated various dragons (usually raising them from birth) to allow them to be ridden, because Dragon Cavalry. Some Dragons are worshipped as Gods however, and ruins of a time they ruled the world scatter the lands.

-Orckin: As of now kind of undecided, they could be alternate corruptions of humans and demihumans. But people want their greenskins, so expect more discussion on this at some point.

-Elementals: Starting off as little energy blobs where their power is prominent, split between fire, water, air and earth. Contracting with them allows for access to elemental magic. Their base forms are uncorrupted, and thus fully tolerated, but if they get enough corruption in them, they turn into anime chicks with a subsequent powerboost. Some monsters have an elemental alignment despite being in a different category.

-Constructs: Artificially made creatures, most notably Golems. While they should function as nonsexual robots, the Demon Lord couldn't abide that, and the magics required to make such constructs always result in tits and 'compatibility ports' shall we say. However they aren't typically very willful, so their construction and use is tolerated in the Order- in fact they are rare to see within corruption regions, since creating Golems is just making more competition for the D.

Additionally there are the non-corrupt races, who are there to be corrupted to become monstergirls.

-Humans & Demihumans: These include Humans (vanilla), Elves (elf-ears), Dwarves (short-stacks), Halflings (legal-loli), and Giants (Amazons). These races are all more-or-less equal within the Order, and within the greater world, though casual racism still exists.

-The Divines: The Gods and their Servants, the Angels. The Gods are largely Anthropomorphic, and govern over specific areas, Love, War, Healing, Agriculture, etc. Unbeknownst to most mortals these positions are rotated out to new Gods, and aren't static. Angels are have fluffy wings, and regularly come down to help Mortals with the Gods agenda, their feathers are relatively common wards against corruption.

-The Fey: These span from small faeries, to the more alien courts of the Fey. They are mostly on the side of humanity and the Gods, though they are not subject to the authority of the Order. They live in a separate realm, the Feylands, with all it's weirdities and oddities.
