Founded in 1956, the German 1st Airborne Divison provides the backbone for the Bundeswher’s ability to rapidly counterattack invading PACT forces. Heliborne on the Bell UH-1 helicopter supplied by the German Army Aviation Corps, the 1 Division paratroopers act as Air Assault troops, much like the American 101st.
