Iyatiku, the Corn Maiden, is the Azuposi spirit of life and nature, and one half of the spirits of creation with Alosaka.

Lore

Iyatiku was born from the song of the Spider Woman along with Alosaka, and the two created the flowers, plants, birds, animals, and finally humans to populate the earth.

Beliefs

Iyatiku is believed to reside underground, where she has her will carried out by the Corn Maidens, and her daughters Uretsete and Naotsete. They busy themselves with planting trees and releasing animals out from their magic baskets. She's believed to be present twice in the life of an individual: during birth, when due to her power life is brought forth, and after death, when she welcomes the spirit back into her realm.

Appearance

Iyatiku is known to appear either as a woman, or as a woman with the tail, wings, and claws of a bird.
