Kizoku are strange, vampire-like creatures only found in Rokushima Taiyoo, the Japanese flavored domain in the Demiplane of Dread, who always appear as incredibly handsome Japanese men, save for a black mark shaped like a crescent moon on their body - typically the face or hand. They exist to seduce women with their supernatural charisma, specifically preying on women who are married, betrothed, or at least have a strong existing relationship, exploiting their mind whammying until they can corrupt their victim into murdering her former spouse or lover. Once this happens, the kizoku devours their soul with a kiss.
Whilst the basic idea of the kizoku remains intact between 2nd and 3rd edition, the specifics do change notably. In AD&D, it's bluntly implied that the kizoku simply kills the women he seduces once he's corrupted them into committing murder. In 3e, he instead turns them into weeping willow trees, a state from which they can be saved. In AD&D, killing a kizoku just requires stabbing it in the heart with a stake carved from weeping willow wood; in 3e, the stake has to come from one of the trees made from his victims and be both carved and wielded by somebody who truly loved that victim... with the added punch that the sacrificed maiden can then only be restored with a Miracle, Wish or True Resurrection spell, whilst all the other maidens the kizoku victimized will instantly be restored to life.
