Leng Spiders, or Spiders of Leng, to give them their original designation by H.P. Lovecraft, are a race of giant, intelligent, purple spiders native to the Dreamlands. They inhabit the Underworld, specifically the winding labyrinths of caves and catacombs beneath the Plateau of Leng, from which they frequently prey on the Leng Folk, who originally drove them from the Plateau and into the Underworld - hence the name. They are believed to be the servitors and/or children of Atlach-Nacha, the great spider-god who seeks to unite Earth and the Dreamlands. Ruthless and antisocial, they are voracious predators who consider all other creatures, including each other, to be prey.
