History
Founding and Feast of Blades
The Scions of Dorn were formed as a brother chapter to the Imperial Fists and Black Templar chapters under the Gene-Seed of Rogal Dorn during the 9th Founding. The Imperial Fists chose one of their own from the Honor Gaurd to be the Chapter Master one Eanarde Malik. The first recruits to the Scions of Dorn were not trained in chapter by the Scions but by the Black Templars and the Imperial Fists as a joint effort.
During the mid-three centuries of M39 the Scions have managed to squash multiple rebellions in the outer rim, put down a pair of large Ork Waagh!'s, cleansed a corrupted Imperial Chapel, and even destroyed the moon sized Space Hulk; "Lauded Curse".
But during the closing years of M.39 the Scions of Dorn attend one of many Feasts of Blades. But this time it is different; after centuries of loss at this event the Scions finally earn their first victory and claim being the Champioms after a grueling match against the Black Templars and their Herald-Champion Dorian Vladek. The emerging champion is a Thane of the “Court of Matthew” by the name of Kaito Jarhong. Later when the Scions are put through a trial of fire it is none of than the Herald-Champion himself who comes to stand with them.
Pre-Renegade Status
During the Vartellum Rebellion of M.39, Inquisitor Jahzed of The Ordo Hereticus requested the aide of the Scions Of Dorn in his campaign against the heretic forces on Hive-Planet Luminor VII. The Chapter readily replied, eager to bring swift justice to the rebels. The Chapter made planetfall post-haste, and retook the planet within one week of grueling urban warfare against the planet's corrupt PDF forces and citizens. In the closing hours of the campaign, the Chapter broke through to the rebel stronghold and destroyed all within. To the Chapter's surprise, the leaders of the rebellion were none other than Inquisitor Jahzed's personal retinue. They were treated to zero mercy and were baptized in breaching force's holy promethium.
Jahzed receives word of this news, and vehemently denies that his retinue were under the terrible sway of Chaos. He holds a wrongfully placed vendetta against the Scions of Dorn that would see the light of day within the next two hundred years.
Year one of M.40 sees the Scions of Dorn branded as heretics. Declared Excommunicate Traitorous by none other than Inquisitor Jahzed himself, the Chapter is forced to retreat from their large planetary garrisons and become a fleet based Chapter. The reasoning for the Chapter's excommunication is the Inquisitor's evidence of "improperly" restoring captured vehicles of the enemy. Under his documentation, the Rites of Exorcism on captured wargear and vehicles is deemed improper. He marks this claim as true when three brothers of the Scions Of Dorn turn renegade and are swiftly executed by the Chapter. Though neither of the incidents can be truly connected, Inquisitor Jahzed has his paperwork signed and authorized by a multitude of close working individuals. The Scions Of Dorn are notoriously well noted for escaping almost entirely unharmed in a very timely fashion as they enter Warpspace. Their only attack during their retreat is the crippling of the Inquisitor's flagship.
Within five years, all members who signed this decree of Excommunication are labelled and executed for heresy against the Emperor and the Imperium. Jahzed is last seen protecting documents of Chaos that follow the demonic path's of resurrection of the flesh. The last pict feed is of his library collapsing on top of him as Imperial Storm Troopers attack his stronghold.
Fleet Based History
After roughly two centuries of searching the outer rim, the Chapter has been entirely fleet based and has made zero attempts to change from their new and set way of living. This is primarily occurring due to the light amounts of recruiting from feral rim worlds and looting/commandeering rogue traders vessels in addition to the occasional renegade vessel, and has given the Scions a sizable fleet with no true need to settle down. Though, as of recently in the closing years of M.41, the wayward Chapter picked up and identified calls from a distress beacon heralding from the Halo Stars. Following the calls, the Astartes find a planet very technologically empty; a planet almost entirely coated in forests and ocean. They choose to name this unknown beauty of a planet after the navigator who located said world; one Toeko Delphi. The tale of his will power and courage in finding the planet have been carved many a time into scrimshaw. Oddly enough, the trace of the beacon is never discovered, and it is widely rumored amongst the Navigators of the Scions Of Dorn that the beacon matched encryptions of the enigmatic Eldar. In the first two weeks of actively searching the planet, tribes of feral humans are discovered living amongst the trees of the Southern region. They are barbaric and simple in nature, yet speak Low Gothic fluently. How they came to be on Toeko is a mystery. Time will tell what shall become of this information...
