Jerbeens are one of the five "Humblefolk", or Beastfolk, races who are presented as alternatives to the five Birdfolk PC races in the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition setting of Humblewood.

As their name suggests, jerbeens are a race of anthropomorphic jerboas - mouse-like rodents with long, tufted-fur tails and oversized, powerful legs, but the race may also resemble rats, mice, or other small, fast rodents, including chinchillas, rabbits and hares. Despite being the smallest race in all of the Humblewood, jerbeen are surprisingly brave... at least, when in a group. Jerbeen take great comfort from the presence of others, and this reassurance can inspire them to acts of surprising courage. They excel in team strategies, and in general are a highly communal race, known for their joviality, charm, kindness and consideration.

That said, the race isn't entirely free of bad eggs. Some respond to the knowledge of their comparative weakness by becoming insular and xenophobic. But these are an exception, and most jerbeen communities live fully integrated with other humblefolk or with birdfolk.

As one might expect, a jerbeen's house typically contains several generations, including extended family and cousins, all living together under the same roof. The race has a strong sense of family, and jerbeens like to surround themselves with good company wherever they rest.

Despite stereotypes, jerbeens do understand privacy, and in fact they value it highly. But they consider there to be a distinction between privacy and true isolation; total separation from friends, family and loved ones is considered to be the worst possible fate a jerbeen could suffer.
