Headquarters[edit | edit source]
Chapter Master Zakariah[edit | edit source]
Chief Apothecary Kheiron[edit | edit source]
- Chief Apothecary Kheiron is a very serious and no nonsense marine. He knows that the work he does on his fellow brothers is of the utmost importance, given the perfection that he is attempting to mend. Whereas other chapter's apothecaries may feel a marine is too badly injured and begin the removal of geneseed, Kheiron will continue working to save the marine's life. He firmly believes that the geneseed is only part of what makes a marine divine. The body and soul of the God-Emperor can be found in all of a marine's organs, and the failure of one should be mourned as the loss of a marine entirely. For this reason, Kheiron holds an especially bitter attitude towards those astartes chapters that continue on with defective or malfunctioning organs, compared to those who merely do not follow the codex. How can they go on living knowing they are only a piece of what the God-Emperor intended them to be?
Archlibrarian Heylel Akhellius[edit | edit source]
- Archlibrarian Heylel Akhellius is the current head of the Guardians Exemplar's librarians; taking over from Archlibrarian Dorlous, who fell in battle against the diabolical Eldar during an invasion of one of their “Maiden Worlds”. A proud Guardian Exemplar, he knows that some in his chapter view librarians as little more then tools that should be disposed of once they outgrew their usefulness, but he has fought against this belief. However, he is still a firm believer in their righteous cause as the Emperor's true sons and that the only way Humanity shall survive is through genetic purity. As Archlibrarian, he is also given the privilege of collecting and documenting the legacies of the Plurimus Tersus Marines and thus has full access to the chapter's dreadnoughts. Akhellius can often be found talking to his ancient colleagues, recording tales of his great victories and tragic defeats for the chapter library.
Plurimus Tersus Marine[edit | edit source]
- The Plurimus Tersus Marine, also known as the “None Purer” Marine, is a ceremonial title unique among the Guardians Exemplar. Similar to the Emperor's Champion of the Imperial Fists and their successors (most notably, the Black Templars), the Plurimus Tersus Marine originates from a title bestowed by Archlibrarian Ephraim to a young Brother-Captain Micaiah after the marine was found to be free of a minor defect in the chapter's gene seed, a fact the chapter kept strictly hidden in order to prevent any accusations that they weren't as pure as they claimed to be. Found to be free of this (relatively minor) taint, Ephraim declared that Brother-Captain Micaiah would hearby be known as “Plurimus Tersus”, the marine who would lead the chapter into a new age of purity.
- From that day several millennia ago, the title has been passed down among the Guardians Exemplar, a marine only losing the title if he ascends to Chapter Master, or if he falls in battle. If a Plurimus Tersus marine survives a battle but it to grievously wounded to continue his role, he is placed within the suit of one of the chapter's few dreadnoughts, an honour worthy of only a Plurimus Tersus marine.
- To pick a new Plurimus Tersus marine, every battle brother in the chapter is placed under strenuous testing until one is found that is considered to be purer then his fellow marines. However to be given the title, the marine must first be deemed worthy enough of such a prestigious charge by the leadership of the chapter. This is a difficult task and there have been countless centuries where the chapter has not included a Plurimus Tersus marine among its ranks. If the marine is approved, they are given the magnificent suit of artificer armour worn by their predecessors, each of whom had engraved their names and greatest victories upon its surface.
- From that day onward, the marine serves as the chapter's champion, leading his brothers in battle and seeking out the enemy leadership so that he can prove that the Guardians Exemplar are truly the Emperor's Finest.
