Adlets are a race of mythical beings from the mythology of the Inuit tribes of Greenland, Labrador and Hudson Bay who are frequently in conflict with humanity. They are described as a race of half-man, half-wolf creatures, with the unusual aspect of having a satyr-like body style; a human from the waist up, but with the legs and tails of wolves.

One of the more well-known stories of adlets is their creation myth, in which an Inuit maiden, for whatever reason, has to marry a dog. She gives birth to ten pups; five white dogs, five half-human half-dog creatures. Her father and her husband quarrel, which ends up with her father murdering the maiden's dog husband and then the maiden herself. Before she dies, she sends the adlets into the interior to live, and the dogs overseas... where they become the white man race and eventually return to the lands of the Inuit.

Pathfinder[edit | edit source]

In Pathfinder, Adlets are a race of white-furred humanoid wolves with the supernatural ability to exhale deadly blasts of freezing cold. Despite the similarities, no mention is made of their possible kinship with the Winter Wolf. They are characterized as aggressive, warlike, deeply religious and very territorial; they do not tolerate efforts by other races to settle the arctic regions they call home.

According to adlet legend, their kind was created when a lost hunter came upon a house of whalebone and ice inhabited by a woman dressed in white fox furs. The woman took in the hunter and tended to him, and the two eventually married and had ten children. Five of these had the legs and tails of foxes, and the other five had the legs and tails of wolves. The fox-legged children remained with their mother, while the wolf-legged ones returned to human lands alongside their father and became the first adlets.
