In the galaxy of the 41st millennium the caretakers of the Blackstone Fortresses are more dangerous than any living race.

This page has the aim to make the security systems of a Blackstone Fortress as a playable army in a 40k game. The idea is that of an army that becomes more and more powerful as the more friendly models are destroyed.

The primary inspiration is that of an actual immune system with all its functionality and behavior.

Army Rules[edit | edit source]

Universal[edit | edit source]

  • Attack Directives: The Blackstone constructs are as flexible as they are ancient and dangerous. A controlling intelligence can analyze a given situation and direct its subordinate parts to adapt accordingly. Many times an explorer has attempted to exploit a perceived weakness in a construct, only to find that weakness morph into a strength, resulting in the swift demise of the explorer.
At the start of your turn, select one of the following directives, every friendly Blackstone Constructs unit within 12" of a Control unit benefits from that directive's effect until the beginning of your next turn.
-1: Ambient Light Absorption: Subtract 1 from the hit rolls made by enemy units which target a unit affected by this directive, if the targeting unit is more than 18” away. In addition, enemy units subtract 1 from their leadership characteristic while within 6” of a unit affected by this directive.
-2: Dark Matter Attack Protocol: Consider the Ap and the Damage characteristic of Assault and Heavy weapons (that don't automatically hit their target) the units affected by this directive are equipped with as one point better.
-3: Engagement Priority Subroutine: You can re-roll advance and charge distances for units affected by this directive.
-4: Focused Weakness Analysis: Add 1 to the result of wound rolls for units affected by this directive.
-5: Hostile Lynchpin Interception and Annihilation: Units affected by this directive may target enemy units that are within engagement range of other friendly Blackstone Constructs units with all of their ranged weapons except for those with the Blast ability or that automatically hit their target.
-6: Impact and Trauma Overdrive: Add 1 to the Strength and Attacks characteristics of units affected by this directive.
  • Cold Machines: These constructs know no fear nor remorse and advance unyielding on the black pavement of their home.
Blackstone Constructs units automatically pass all Morale and Leadership tests and cannot be affected by special rules or stratagems that harm them based on their Leadership characteristic. In addition, every Blackstone Constructs unit is considered to have the Vehicle keyword for the purpose of enemy Stratagems and special rules. For the purpose of this codex's rules and Stratagems, only consider as Vehicle units those who possess the actual keyword in their datasheet.
  • Gradual Aggressiveness: The central system of these guarding machines is programmed to crush the intruders with an ever-increasing strength that matches their threat value.
During the course of the battle, keep track of how many friendly Blackstone Constructs models you loose; depending on the percentage of lost points, you can select a number of Attack Directives equal to the table below.

Detachment Rules[edit | edit source]

  • Objective Secured The drones and systems of the Blackstone Fortress have only one directive: protect the structure and its vital points at all costs.
If your army is Battle-forged, all troops in Blackstone Constructs Detachments gain this ability. Such a unit that is within range of an objective marker (as specified in the mission) controls the objective marker even if there are more enemy models within range of that objective marker. If an enemy unit within range of the same objective marker has a similar ability, then the objective marker is controlled by the player who has the most models within range of it as normal.

Stratagems[edit | edit source]

Battle Tactics Stratagems[edit | edit source]

  • Blinding Assault (2 CP): In a quick advancing maneuver, swarms of breacher drones blind the enemy troops with their weapons, leaving them defenseless to the incoming barrage.
Use this Stratagem in your Shooting phase when you choose a Breacher Drones unit to shoot with. Until the end of the phase, all models in that unit may fire their Ligthpod instead of only one.
  • Frenzy Virus Upload (3 CP): As a desperate measure, the central control can upload a series of highly aggressive codes in the neural structure of a drone. These codes set the machines on an uncontrollable killing spree, annihilating the target but damaging itself in the process.
At the start of any fight phase select a friendly Infantry Blackstone Constructs unit. Models in that unit permanently increase their Attacks characteristic by 3 and ignore damage received on a 6 on a D6. However, this unit may not benefit from any aura abilities. In addition, roll a D6 at the end of each turn this unit did not fight during the Fight phase; on a 4+ the unit suffers D3 mortal wounds, 3 on a 6.
  • Mechanical Muscles (1 CP): The mechanical structure of Blackstone constructs enable them to move quickly without experiencing biological exhaustion.
Use this Stratagem in your Movement phase. Select one friendly Infantry Blackstone Constructs unit from your army that is making an Advance move; add 6" to its Move characteristic for that Movement phase instead of rolling a die.
  • Mercyless Onslaught (2/3 CP): To the defend the Fortress is the sole reason to exist for these cold constructs and they achieve that goal with merciless efficiency.
Use this Stratagem at the end of the Shooting or Fight phase. Select one friendly Blackstone Constructs unit from your army, that unit can immediately shoot or fight again. This Stratagem costs 3 Command Points if the selected unit is Titanic, 2 for all other types of units.

Epic Deed Stratagems[edit | edit source]

  • Blackstone Foundry (2 CP): The boiling depths of a Mother Drone work tirelessly to forge new machines of destruction. Whilst this stands, the enemy has no chance at victory.
Use this Stratagem when a Mother Drone from your army is using its Blackstone Forge special rule. The amount of Spindle Drones in the spawned unit becomes 12 instead of 6 (alternatively, replace up to 11 models lost earlier in the battle in an existing unit of Spindle Drones instead of only 6). If you're forging a Suppressor Drone or a Shockpiercer Drone, then add one to the roll instead.
  • Signal Repeater (1 CP): Repeater Drones are capable of redirecting the signal of coordinating constructs to the outskirts of the swarm, enhancing even more the abilities of lesser machines.
Use this Stratagem at the start of your turn. Repeater Drones within 12" of a unit with the Swarm Coordinator or Vibrations Scanner count as having that special rule until the end of your turn.

Requisition Stratagems[edit | edit source]

  • Amplied Command Network (1 CP): In moments of great chaos or calamity, the central network of the Fortress can dispatch numerous commanding drones to manage the situation.
Use this Stratagem before the battle, when you are mustering your army, if your Warlord has the Blackstone Constructs keyword. Select one Blackstone Constructs Character model in your army and determine one Warlord Trait for that model (this must be a Warlord Trait they can have); that model is only regarded as your Warlord for the purposes of that Warlord Trait. Each Warlord Trait in your army must be unique (if randomly-generated, re-roll duplicate results), and you cannot use this Stratagem to give a model two Warlord Traits. You can only use this Stratagem once, unless you are playing a Strike Force battle (in which case you can use this Stratagem twice), or an Onslaught battle (in which case you can use this Stratagem three times).
  • In the Depths of the Fortress (5 CP): When a foe finds themselves at the heart of a black stone fortress they are truly alone. There is no backup, no clever ploy around enemy lines, a commander has only what resources they have managed to drag by tooth and nail this far.
Use before the battle begins and declare that the battle is taking place within the heart of a Blackstone Fortress. For the duration of the battle roll a D6 every time an enemy unit would gain a victory point; on a 5+ they gain an additional victory point. However, all enemy units must start the battle deployed in the enemy deployment zone, and may not start in reserve etc.
  • Nano Refractor Drone Skin (2/4 CP): On the surface of this war machine, a thin layer of refractive micro drones creates a powerful and nigh invisible force field capable of deflecting even the most brutal weapons.
Use this Stratagem before the battle, after you and your opponent have deployed your armies. Select a friendly Blackstone Fortress unit on the battlefield, and subtract 1 from its Armor save. However, that unit gains an Invulnerable save equal to its new Armor save. If the target of this stratagem is a TITANIC unit, this Stratagem costs 4 CP, otherwise, it costs 2.
  • Repurpose Subroutine (3 CP): After having acquired data on the intruders, the Blackstone Fortress programs can decide to substitute a part of the deployed forces to better defend its territory.
Use this Stratagem before the battle, after you and your opponent have deployed your armies. Select a friendly Blackstone Fortress unit on the battlefield and remove it from play, making note of the total number of points and power ratings of the models removed. You can then add another Blackstone Fortress unit of the same points/power ratings cost or less to your army. This new unit may be placed anywhere inside your deployment zone.
  • Special Systems Installation (1 CP): Special augmentation are implanted in key drones within the swarm, to enhance their ability in battle.
Use this Stratagem before the battle, when you are mustering your army, if your Warlord has the Blackstone Constructs keyword. Select one Blackstone Constructs Character model in your army and give them one Relic (this must be a Relic they can have). Each Relic in your army must be unique, and you cannot use this Stratagem to give a model two Relics. You can only use this Stratagem once, unless you are playing a Strike Force battle (in which case you can use this Stratagem twice), or an Onslaught battle (in which case you can use this Stratagem three times).

Stratageic Ploy Stratagems[edit | edit source]

  • Close Quarter Cadaver Analysis (3 CP): All drones in a Blackstone Fortress are constantly running analysis subroutines on any nearby threats, watching how they move, fight and communicate. With the additional analysis on how the threat changes when it is neutralized, the program can upload the data to the network, allowing other drones to adapt their combat style to partially mimic their foe.
Use this Stratagem whenever a friendly Blackstone Constructs Control unit slays an enemy unit during the Fight phase. At the end of that phase, this model gains the following ability until the end of the battle:
Target Adaptation (Aura): Friendly Blackstone Constructs units within 6" of this model may re-roll hit rolls of 1 against all models with any of the same Faction keywords as the slain enemy unit.
  • Counter-flying Directives (1 CP): Even though a black stone fortress is huge, it’s structure and shape is not conducive to flying. The coordinating linchpins of the defending force can manipulate the structure around them in subtle ways. This can be used to force enemy fliers into predictable paths, making them much easier to shoot down with concentrated fire.
Use this Stratagem in your Shooting phase. Select one Control model in your army; until the end of the phase, friendly Blackstone Constructs units within 12" (24" if it has the Advanced Communication Network Warlord Trait) of that model or within 12" of a Repeater Drone within 12" (24" if it has the Advanced Communication Network Warlord Trait) of that model add 1 to their hit rolls if they target units that can Fly but have to subtract 1 from their hit rolls if they target any other type of unit.
  • Deceptive Topography (2 CP): Blackstone Fortresses are ancient and unknown. The entire structure can suddenly shift, leaving adventuring parties lost and confused.
At the start of an enemy movement phase select a piece of terrain on the battlefield. All non-Blackstone Fortress units with 6” of that terrain piece subtract 2 from their movement distances and may not advance for the duration of the movement phase.
  • Enhanced Aggressiveness (2 CP): The main network of the fortress can order a specific group of constructs to enter a state of absolute aggressivity, normally only used in dire situations.
Use this Stratagem at the start of your turn. Select one Blackstone Constructs unit from your army. Until the beginning of your next turn, that unit benefits from one additional Attack Directives (See - Army Rules).
  • Intruders Detected (2 CP): The early warning systems of a Blackstone Fortress are advanced beyond belief. As soon as a threat steps foot within them, constructs can be awoken and placed in pre-planned positions to launch a strike.
Use this Stratagem before the battle begins. Secretly select a piece of terrain not in the enemy deployment zone and set aside a non-Titanic unit. That unit is now hidden in that terrain piece. When an enemy unit enters within 12” of that terrain piece deploy the hidden unit in base contact with that terrain piece. The deployed unit can then either make a full round of shooting attacks against the enemy unit or attempt to make a charge and round of melee attacks against the enemy unit.
  • Preemptive Bombardment Decree (2 CP): Blackstone constructs are always in wait, ready to strike intruders out the moment they invade the Fortress.
Use this Stratagem before the battle. Select one unit in your army; for the duration of your first turn, that unit can't move during the Movement phase but may fire all of its weapons twice in the following Shooting phase. You can only use this Stratagem once, unless you are playing Strike Force battle (in which case you can use this Stratagem twice), or an Onslaught battle (in which case you can use this Stratagem three times).

Wargear Stratagems[edit | edit source]

  • Atomic Division (2 CP): The incredible energy held by this weapon are discharged into a single ray of energy capable of sundering the fundamental components of matter.
Use this Stratagem during your Shooting phase. Select one model in your army that hasn't already shot with its Drone laser or High-intensity Drone Laser. Don't roll to wound for that attack, instead the target suffers one mortal wound. Then, roll a die; on a 4+ the energy of the laser sunders an atom, causing a detonation. The target and all units within 3" of it suffer D3 mortal wounds.
  • Breath of the Creator (1 CP): These ancient weapons have been blessed by the Old Ones to melt flesh as well as stone.
Use this Stratagem when a unit would fire a weapon that would automatically hit its target. Increase the Strength and Ap characteristic of that unit's weapons by 1.
  • Energy Core Override (2 CP): The dark matter engine at the heart of every construct can be driven into overdrive, in order to increase their damage output by orders of magnitude. In the golden age of the Old Ones, drones could do this with impunity, but in the 42nd millennium such actions can lead to catastrophic damage.
Use this Stratagem in your Shooting phase when you choose a Suppressor Drone to shoot with. Until the end of the phase, double the Damage characteristic of that model's Disgregator Cannon. After the model has resolved all of its attacks, roll a die; on a 4+ that model suffers D3 mortal wounds, D6 on a 6. These wounds cannot be denied by Hover Drones.
  • Kinetic Barrage (2 CP): Without giving the enemy a second to breathe, Suppressor Drones fill the air of the Fortress with a deadly suppressive barrage.
Use this Stratagem in your Shooting phase when you choose a Suppressor Drone which has remained stationary to shoot with. Until the end of the phase, that model's Kinetic Bombarder Type is changed to Heavy 6D3 and its Damage to D3+1.
  • Pulse Resonation (2 CP): When synched together, the pulses create by these weapons complement each other and create an unstoppable barrage of destruction.
Use this Stratagem during your Shooting phase. Select one unit in your army that hasn't already shot with their Pulse weapons. For each model in the unit that is equipped with a Pulse weapon, select one unit within 6" of the target of the attack, that unit suffers D6 hits with the weapon's profile. In addition, if this unit contains at least 3 models equipped with a Pulse weapon, the targeted enemy units don't get a benefit to their Armor saves for being in Light or Heavy cover.
  • Self-destruction (1 CP): The central core of Scout Drones is extremely small, but if summed with others of its kind, it can create a powerful and lethal explosion.
Use this Stratagem after a unit of Scout Drones from your army piles in, but before they make their close combat attacks. Select a Scout Drone Swarm model in your unit and then pick an enemy unit within 1" of it. Your Scout Drone Swarm model is destroyed. Remove it from the battlefield and roll a D6; on a 2-5 the enemy unit you picked suffers D3 mortal wounds, 3 on a roll of 6.
  • Shock Pulse (1 CP): Shockpiercer Drones release a powerful energetic shockwave upon impact, stunning intruders and disabling their engines of war.
Use this Stratagem when a Shockpiercer Drone finished its assault move. Roll a die for each enemy unit within 3" of it; on a 6 that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds, on a 4+ if that enemy unit is a Vehicle.

Warlord Traits[edit | edit source]

  • 1: Advanced Communication Network: Coordination is the key in responding to an attack and this leader constructs' communication systems are designed to prioritize the exchange of information in even the most violent conflict.
Double the range of your Warlord's Aura abilities. In addition, each time you use a Stratagem on your Warlord or a friendly Blackstone Construct unit within 6" of it, roll a die; on a 5+ you gain one Command Point.
  • 2: Energy Jamming Emitter: The central core of this machine creates powerful waves of energy that are able to cancel out any type of force or disrupt the enemy weapons.
Enemy units may not use their invulnerable save while within 6" of your Warlord. In addition, each time an enemy unit fires its weapons while within 6" of your Warlord, on an unmodified hit roll of 1, the bearer's unit suffers a mortal wound after all of the weapon’s shots have been resolved.
  • 3: Marked by the Old Ones: The creatures and constructs in the black stone fortress are ancient, predating the fall of the Eldar and the rise of humanity. But even amongst these ancient machines, there are those who are even older, and whose construction came directly from the hands of the old ones. Such heritage means that these systems are vastly superior to anything else in the entire galaxy, and they show it both in army management and combat.
Your Warlord always hits on a hit roll of 2+, regardless of any modifiers. In addition, at the start of the battle, you gain D3 additional Command Points.
  • 4: Self-repair Mechanism: A cloud of microscopic drones swarms the surface of this construct, repairing even its most deep damages.
At the start of your turn, your Warlord recovers D3 previously lost wounds.
  • 5: Systematic Coordination: The advanced neural network of this commanding machine is able to identify the target with the highest priority on the field and focus the swarm's efforts on its termination.
At the start of your Shooting phase, select one enemy unit that is in light of sight of your Warlord. Until the beginning of your next turn, friendly Blackstone Constructs units within 12" of your Warlord that target that unit may re-roll any hit roll and wound roll of 1.
  • 6: Vital Systems Compromised: This commanding construct possesses a deep connection with the main network of the fortress, if such link were to be destroyed, it would send the entire system in a fighting frenzy.
If your Warlord is slain, you automatically lose D3+3 victory points, but in addition, you can select one more Attack Directive than the number determined by the Gradual Aggressiveness special rule and all friendly units ignore damage received on a 6+ for the rest of the battle. If a unit already has a rule that lets it ignore damage, add one to the roll (up to a 4+).

Specialist Detachments[edit | edit source]

Defenders Against the 13th (1 CP)[edit | edit source]

The forces of Chaos aren't welcomed into the silent tombs of the Old Ones. To preserve this legacy and preventing it from becoming corrupt, the drones of the Fortress will go to great lengths to fight these demonic intruders.

All Blackstone Fortress Infantry and Vehicle units in this Specialist Detachment gain the Defenders Against the 13th keyword.

Warlord Trait:

  • Hatred of Chaos: Against enemies such as these, a peculiar strategy needs to be implemented to stop them from defying this place.
Add 1 to hit and wound rolls made by your Warlord against Chaos units.

Stratagems:

  • Daemonic Engine Jamming Impulse (2 CP): The blackstone structure of these machines irradiates an aura that dispels warp energies and damages the corrupt circuits of deamon-possessed machines.
Use this Stratagem at the beginning of your Command phase. Select one Daemon Engine unit within 12" of a unit in your army and roll a die. On a 3+, that unit suffers D3 mortal wounds, D6 on a 5+. These mortal wounds can't be negated in any way.

Relic:

  • Demon Pulse Eraser: With carefully coordinated pulse waves, even the form of a greater demon can dissipate into nothingness.
This Relic replaces an Enhanced Drone Pulse and has the following profile:
Weapon Range Type S AP D Abilities
Demon Pulse Eraser 18" Pistol 2 5 - 1 Triple the damage against enemies with the Daemon keyword. Daemon units may not use their Invulnerable save and rules that ignore wounds against attacks made with this weapon.

Shattered Fortress (3 CP)[edit | edit source]

Sometimes, even a Blackstone Fortress can fall. It may take the chosen of the gods to crash it into a planet, or never-ending hordes of explorers to grind it into dust, but the home of the drones which live within can be indeed be shattered.

All Blackstone Fortress Infantry and Vehicle units in this Specialist Detachment gain the Shattered Fortress keyword.

Warlord Trait:

  • Last Surviving Lynchpin of Code: This commanding drone hosts the last remaining fragment of the core network program. Just like with the fortress, the Blackstone constructs will now protect it at any cost.
Roll a D6 each time your Warlord loses a wound whilst they are within 3" of a friendly Shattered Fortress unit; on a 2+ a model from that unit can intercept that hit - your Warlord does not lose a wound but that unit suffers a mortal wound.

Stratagems:

  • No Home and No Purpose (3 CP): Without a place to call home, these forgotten machines have become extremely vigilant and aggressive towards any outside danger.
Use this Stratagem at the start of your Command phase. All Shattered Fortress units in your army benefit from one additional Attack Directive until the beginning of your next Command phase.

Relic:

  • Emergency Communication Relay: With no central system to connect the scattered drones, this communication system functions as the last method of communication from and to commanding-class drones.
Double the range of all of this model's Aura special rules.

Special Formations[edit | edit source]

Special Formations are a special kind of detachment that is made up of variable and specific units. Each formation has to be made inside its own detachment and counts as an organized detachment. Stratagems found in this section can only be used on units from the correspondent formation.

Enduring Victory (3 CP)[edit | edit source]

When the threat of the intruders surpasses a certain limit, the central control dispatches a wave of suppressive drones to drive the enemy back.

Composition:

  • 1 Mother Drone
  • 1-3 units of Suppressor Drones
  • 1-3 units of Shockpiercer Drones
  • 3-6 units of Spindle Drones

Effects:

  • Unstoppable Advance: Suppressor Drones in this formation always count as having remained stationary for the purpose of their Weapon Platform and Kinetic Bombarder special rules.
  • Swarm Controller: This formation's Mother Drone gains the Swarm Controller special rule.
Swarm Controller (Aura): Whilst a Spindel Drone unit is within 12" of any model with this special rule, their Threat Level Rising special rule has no effect. Instead, add 3 to the Strength, AP and Damage characteristics of that unit's Drone Pulse.

Special Stratagems:

  • Endless Production (2 CP): With the support of the Mother Drone, this tide of mechanical wardens is constantly expanding and worries not for the destruction of its supports.
Use this Stratagem at the beginning of your Command Phase. Select the Mother Drone from this formation. That model may decide to either attempt to create two models of either Suppressor Drones or Shockpiercer Drones for one token or automatically create one of the two without having to roll a die.

Intrusion First Response (3 CP)[edit | edit source]

At the first sight of an intrusion, swamrs of scout drones are sent to investigate the presence of possible intruders.

Composition:

  • 3-9 Scout Drone Swarms
  • 1-3 units of Outrider Drones

Effects:

  • First Line of Warning: Double the value of the points cost of each model in this formation for determining the level of the Gradual Aggressiveness ability.
  • Where the Threat Is: Units in this formation must be deployed outside of your deployment zone, but more than 6” away from your opponent's deployment zone.

Special Stratagems:

  • Investigation Required (X CP): SDS-UN101:movement_detected SDS-UN101:directive:investigate
Use this Stratagem at the beginning of your first Command phase. Select an X amount of units from this formation, where X is the number of Command points spent on this Stratagem; those units may immediately make a move as if it was your Movement phase.

The Three Witches (5 CP)[edit | edit source]

When three Commander Drones unite their neural matrixes together, an incredible, twisted, new being is created. This one entity inhabiting three seperate bodies possesses an intelligence greater than any found in the lesser races and can even come to rival the likes of the Aeldari and Necrons.

Composition:

  • 3 Commander Drones

Restrictions:

  • All units in this form must maintain unit cohesion, even though they still count as separate units. In addition, one unit in this formation must be your Warlord.

Effects:

  • Everything is Their Plan: Roll two D6s, noting which is which, every time an opponent uses a Stratagem; on a 6 on the first dice you gain 1 Command point, and on a 6 on the second dice the Stratagem costs 1 more Command point. If your opponent cannot pay this extra Command point then the Stratagem fails and no Command points are refunded.
  • Heads of the Witches: Your opponent gains two victory points for slaying each model in this Formation. If at the end of the battle, this formation is wiped out, your opponent gains twice the victory points.
  • Sift the Code of the Future: At the start of each of your Command phases you gain a number of Command points equal to the number of models in this Formation that are still alive.

Special Stratagems:

  • Quantum Triangulation (X CP): Using their immense calculus capacity, the three Command Drones determine the precise position of hidden enemy forces, turning their recluse position into their tomb.
Use this Stratagem during your Shooting phase. Select a number of enemy units that are on the board equal to the number of models in this Formation that are still alive. Friendly Blackstone Constructs units in your army may target those units even though they are not within their line of sight. This Stratagem costs a number of Command points equal to the number of models in this Formation that are still alive.

Melee Weapons[edit | edit source]

  • Bladed Limbs:

  • Colossal Feet:

  • Manipulator Limbs:

  • Advanced Repair System: The capabilities of these repair drones extend beyond any other technology of the Fortress, repairing any damage with lightning speed and efficiency.
Roll a die each time this model would lose a wound, on a 4+ that wound is not lost. In addition, the first time this model is destroyed, roll a die at the end of the current phase; on a 2+ this model is brought back to life with D6 remaining wounds, place it as close as possible to its original position and more than 1" from enemy units. Mother Drone[edit | edit source]

The last line of the defense to the central core of a Blackstone Fortress, with just one Mother Drone, the results of a battle can be completely overturned. These are the biggest of constructs and their offense capabilities greatly overshadow those of other drones. But their true strength isn't just brutal firepower, but is in fact the forgery located into their bowels that let's them build additional units on the field. With this, a war of attrition is impossible against them.

Crusade Rules[edit | edit source]

Agendas[edit | edit source]

  • Merciless Retribution: Those that dare violate the bowels of a Blackstone Fortress must be ready to suffer the wrath of its wardens.
Keep a Retribution tally for each Blackstone Constructs unit from your army. At the end of each Shooting or Fight phase, add 1 to that unit's Retribution tally if it destroyed 1 or more enemy units that battle round.
At the end of the battle, each unit gains 1 experience point for every mark on its Retribution tally.
  • Protect the Fortress: There's one directive that is above everything else, that overrides any other input or order. Protect the Fortress, that is the only true objective of every drone.
At the end of each battle round, if you control more objectives than the enemy, you gain D3 Victory Points.
  • Vengence Against the Intruders: Intruders that taint the stillness of the Fortress must be punished with a quick and clean death.
Each time a unit from your army kills an enemy unit that is within 3" of an objective, that unit gains 3 experience points.

Requisitions[edit | edit source]

  • Implanted Transmitter (2 RP): With an increase in commanding drones, so the efficiency of the swarm rises.
Select one model in your Crusade force that does not have the Control keyword. That model immediately gains the Control keyword.
  • Mechanical Vengeance (3 RP): After such a humiliating defeat, the central network of the Fortress swears to annihilate the next foe with brutal superiority.
Purchase this Requisition after a loss. Your army permanently benefits from one additional Attack Directive.
  • The Fortress is Safe (1 RP): The Fortress is safe and the intruders have been terminated, it's now time to rebuild what was broken.
Purchase this Requisition after a victory is achieved. You gain D3 additional Requisition points.

Battle Traits[edit | edit source]

Blackstone Constructs Units[edit | edit source]

  • 1) Ancient Protectors: These ancients machines have remained vigilant from eons before the birth of mankind and they'll continue to do so even after the Holy Terra will have vanished.
This unit counts as having double the number of models when determining which unit controls an objective.
  • 2) Cold Slaughter: "The way they move, the cold, unsensing eye with which they stare into our souls as they calmly slaughter our ranks... They are not alive, they don't have any soul..."
Enemy units within 12" of this unit suffer a penalty of 1 to their Leadership characteristic, 3 if the enemy unit has suffered any casualty from attacks made by this unit.
  • 3) Special Transmission Receiver: Equipped with a special transmitter, these drones are capable of acting as the outriders of the swarm, free from the constraints of the network's reach.
This unit will benefit from the selected directives of your army's active Attack Directives while it is within any range of a friendly Control model, instead of 12".

Ranged weapons with an Armour Penetration characteristic of -1 or -2 are treated as having an Armour Penetration characteristic of 0 when resolving attacks against this model. In addition, enemy units attempting to charge this unit or friendly Blackstone Constructs units within 6" must subtract D3" from their charge distance.
  • High Capacity Calculator Matrix: A complex cerebral matrix allows this drone to calculate every move of the enemy with extreme accuracy. Not only does this mean it can better avoid enemy attacks, it also means it'll know the exact moment its target will be the most vulnerable for the upcoming retaliation.
