The Lifewatch are a /tg/ custom chapter drawing recruits from other space marine chapters, a la deathwatch. The purpose of lifewatch is to nuture future space marine aspirants from children that are war orphans or show great promise to be space marines. Their power armor color is white (with previous chapter insignia on a pauldron? Still in discussion), which belies their nature as caregivers and allows their young charges a blank canvas to express themselves (both literally and figuratively). Although sometimes seen as less courageous by their fellow space marines, they will protect their charges with a ferocity matching the most battle-hardened veterans.
White towers are the lifewatch's analogue to the deathwatch black shields, and they function as teachers and guardians of their hopeful aspirants. Their loyalties are sworn to the ecclessiarchy in lieu of their previous chapter loyalties. As a result of their position of caretaker and guardian, the position is seen by many chapters to be a manner for those space marines with less conviction or courage to avoid regular combat. These negative notions are quickly dispelled whenever the white towers are seen performing their most sacred duty against their enemies.
