Moon-Beast
![]() |

"Great greyish-white slippery things which could expand and contract at will, and whose principal shape - though it often changed - was that of a sort of toad without any eyes, but with a curious vibrating mass of short pink tentacles on the end of its blunt, vague snout."
- – H.P. Lovecraft, The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath
Moon-Beasts are an obscure monster from the Cthulhu Mythos native to the Dreamlands, where they inhabit the moon. As their name implies. Looking like giant eyeless albino toads with waving tentacles around their maws, they are slavers, devourers of humanoids and sadists who revel in torture and bloody sacrifice. They are the masters of the Men of Leng, who acts as their go-betweens to purchase slaves using massive rubies given to them by their monstrous masters. These slaves are then shipped from the Plateau of Leng to the moon in magical flying black galleys to feed the hunger of the Moon-Beasts.
Moon-Beasts have appeared in both Pathfinder 1st Edition and unofficially in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, the latter through S. Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for 5e splatbook.
