Taking on the aspects of the conspiracies that the Freemasons formed the US government for reasons, the Carpenters are part of a fraternal group that take it on themselves to essentially ensure that America functions without too much madness. That doesn't necessarily mean they're fix every problem, though. Still, they do believe in what America claims itself to be more than the likes of the Barrett Commission, and especially Task Force: VALKYRIE. What backs up their talk is their access to "The Contract". No one knows ''what'' the Contract necessarily is, but the going theory is that it's a gestalt force of America made manifest. One that works to help the Carpenters do what's needed.
