- – Nocticula
As a Demon Lord (1st Ed)
Reputed to be the very first succubus to have arisen in the realms of Pathfinder, Nocticula is quite a different beast to her Dungeons & Dragons counterpart, Malcanthet. Though both chose to climb the Demon ranks on their backs, Nocticula did so by using her seductive powers to lure other Demon Princes into lowering their guards, allowing her to murder them and claim their power for herself. So it is that she had became the Demon Princess of Assassination and Darkness as well as Lust, and consequently, she was desired and feared by all other demon lords in the Abyss, nascent and true alike; only her brother-lover Socothbenoth feels anything resembling trust for this most infamous of demonic assassins.
Needless to say, Nocticula's Deamon cult is quite diverse, with assassins and serial killers rubbing shoulders with hedonists and whores, whilst her worship is particular favored by the drow, her fellow succubi, shadows, and other beings of darkness or lust. Symbolized by a seven-pointed crown wrapped in thorny vines, she has one of the least deadly obediences a demon prince could demand of her worshipers; the faithful are simply expected to indulge in a psychedelic drug of some sort and then engage in at least one sexual act, alone or with others, that draws blood as a part of the act. So, technically, a simple act of consensual bloodplay with a partner whilst tripping on magic mushrooms is enough to pay homage to Nocticula. Those who honor her are protected against blindness and charming effects, and she offers several potent boons; Charming, Darkness or Suggestion spell-like abilities, the power to inflict blindness as a spell-like ability, and the ability to create a single permanently dominated thrall.
Nocticula appears as a beautiful, pale-skinned, black-haired, elf-like figure with all-white eyes, three many-barbed lizard-like tails, bat-like wings covered in glowing runes, and "hooves" that resemble knee-high high-heeled boots made of stone with molten iron weeping from veins that crisscross across their surfaces. Her Abyssal realm is the Midnight Isles; an immense and ever-still sea of black water under an eternal full-mooned night sky, dotted with dozens of islands. The central island, Alinythia, is Nocticula's personal pleasure-palace, but the others are the representations of powerful and unique entities - like demon princes - murdered by Our Lady in Shadow.
The cult of Lamashtu has been particularly hostile to Nocticula's cult in recent years, which her followers have taken as a sign that she may be ascending to the rank of deity.
