Esthetics are a unique race of biomechanical constructs created by the Reigar to serve them as living spelljammers. Each esthetic exists in a symbiotic link with its Reigar creator. Each esthetic is different from all the others — a direct result of the personality of the creator. The only common thread is the extremely ornate nature of the vessels. Esthetics may be bilaterally symmetrical (two halves matching, like a human body divided from head to feet), radially symmetrical (like a starfish), or they may have no discernible symmetry.

In combat, esthetics can have a wide variety of abilities, but there are three universal ones. Firstly, they close to melee and grapple their target with biomechanical appendages, which allows them to deploy either a feeding tube that stabs the victim and floods them with acid, or a kind of ovipositor that can be used to discharge troops into an enemy ship - typically lakshu. Finally, they can use their most dangerous ability: the jammerscream. This is a powerful arcano-psisonic attack that can be used to target a single spelljammer within 2,500 yards, and attempts to neutralize the energy flow that allos the target to move through space. In the case of spacegoing animals and humanoid spelliammers, the effects range from a temporary cessation of spelljamming ability (similar to a migraine, spelljamming ability lost for 3d6 turns) to cerebral hemorrhage (the latter in the case of a failed saving throw vs. spell) leading to death or at least permanent brain damage. In the case of dwarven forges, a successful strike causes forge flames to expire and shovelers to writhe on the floor, grasping their heads in pain.

Entirely self-sufficient, believed to feed either by photosynthesis or by absorbing atmospheric nutrients, esthetics exist only to serve the will of their Reigar symbionts

They returned for 5th Edition.
