Psy-Gheist

Psy-Gheists are House Delaque Psykers, who use their abilities to gather information for their House.
Overview[edit | edit source]
While House Delaque possesses many psykers, the Psy-Gheists are the greatest of such individuals and are said to be the true foci of the Psychoterica. They give voice to the Silent Ones, in essence opening themselves up to the will of the first Necromundans. Those influenced by Psy-Gheists are said to be driven temporarily insane by the experience, with many more turning into Emprah-levels of vegetables. They also exhibit a great deal of control over various Delaque bioforms such as Psychoteric Wyrms and Piscean Spektors. Some also make use of the specialized equipment known as a Psychomancer's Harness which can be equipped with Psychomantic Claws.
Psy-Gheists are considered strange and alien even amongst the Delaque themselves. To many, they represent a kind of psychic evolution and foreshadowing of when the Psychoterica might consume them all. Some Delaque welcome this change, while others fear it.
Crunch[edit | edit source]
One of the more expensive troops, starting with a Psychoteric Whisper option. They are really fragile, having the same stats of a Delaque Shadow except for a 4+WS stat. Moreover, they start off unarmed and even when trying to buy stuff from a vendor, they are limited to shitty Flintlock Pistols, Stub Guns and cheap Knives.
Conventional wisdom goes that due to this, a Psy-Gheist is a melee specialist, which is true to some extant, as their expensive Psychomancer’s Harness equipment includes some gnarly melee weapons in the form of Paired Psychomantic Claws, as well as a 2” movement boost and some ability to ignore terrain if one were to invest a 110 points into melee gear, giving the unit a 1-Wound, 1-Attack fighter. This might not sound that great nor efficient, but keep in mind that they are in the end, a psyker. And being psykers, they benefit a lot from psychic equipment, chief among those are Psychoteric Wyrms, which are the best way to extend some very powerful Whisper effects to a usable range, but those do cost 70 credits a pop. The problem with Psy-Gheists as Psykers is their starting Willpower of 8+. So you can invest a lot of credits into the ability to attempt a Whisper where you want it, but the effect will not actually manifest reliably until you’ve gained a few Advances.
