Ammo-Jacks are Necromundan armourers who - as their name implies - make their living selling ammo and weapon maintenance services to the numerous gangs in the Underhive.

Overview[edit]

More experienced gangs know the importance of regular weapon checks and will hire full-time Ammo-Jacks that provide their services from workshops within the gangs' hideout. They are one of the guys that ALL gang members, whether it is the Clan Houses, Khornate Cults or Genestealer Cults, chooses not to fuck with. Piss off an Ammo-Jack and your entire clan would quickly find itself out of bullets and weapons in no time. Harm an Ammo-Jack and every single person with a gun is gonna hunt you down.

The typical Ammo-Jack model is armed with a Imperial Boltgun or Combat Shotgun, a Power Sword or a Power Hammer and a plethora of Frag and Krak Grenades. He wears either Flak Armour or Carapace Armour for protection.

When it comes to the tabletop, their typical hiring fee is 50 Credits. While hired Ammo-Jacks allow the player to re-roll any Ammo checks if the result is equal to or lower than the amount of Ammo-Jacks hired. His weaponry also makes him a pretty capable unit outright, throwing an impressive amount of Dakka and Choppa in either ranges. Definitely a hired gun not to be fucked with.

Ragnir Gunnstein[edit]

Ragnir in all his Squatty glory.

One of the first Squats we know off before the release of the Leagues of Votann and the Ironhead Squat Prospectors. Ragnir Gunnstein is a Squat Ammo-Jack that offers an alternative to the typical Ammo-Jack. This Squat Ammo-Jack comes covered in bullets and grenades, and carries a wealth of tools that he uses to fix weapons.

He rocks a Breach-Action Shotgun and a Club to defend himself and wears Carapace Armour for defense, as well as a plethora of Frag and Krak Grenades.

Overview[edit]

In-game, he allows you to re-roll any failed Ammo checks that roll a natural 1 and can be taken whether you are an attacker or defender (not just on your own territory). Unfortunately, compared to the vanilla Ammo-Jack, Ragnir Gunnstein is kind of underwhelming. Not only is he more expensive (A whopping 100 credits, twice that of the regular old Joe), but his skills, mobility and weaponry is also inferior.

For comparison, his really limited range of weapons which is the shotgun and club, pales in contrast to the regular Ammo-Jack's selection of four weapons with a longer range that hits harder. He goes from two of the best basic weapons to a meh, and trades a phenomenal melee monster for one that improves the opponent’s armor save. Moreover, as a Squat, his mobility is shit, being a dismal 3” move. This will become an annoying liability for a character with a 6” aura and a short ranged weapon. He gains 1 extra toughness, but that seems insufficient to offset the fact that most gangs are nearly twice as fast as him.

Likewise, his Surplus Ammo special skill which allows Ragnir to deploy D3 ammo caches at the beginning of the game is underwhelming, especially considering the added cost and gear downgrade. Caches could be interesting if you have gun support spread out across the map, but this it’s incredibly redundant considering his base skill.

Gaen & Vunder Gorvos[edit]

Not Ammo-Jacks, but their Gunk Bombs are so good, they might as well be honorary Ammo-Jacks.

The two Underhive noble siblings. These two actually can't stand each other and would rather have one of them dead. The fact that they are still alive suggests they have quite a tsundere relationship. Nevertheless, these are NOT true Ammo-Jacks, however, they - specifically Gaen - provides as a vendor of sorts which sort of counts them as one.

For Vunder Gorvos, he is a pompous twat and fucking idiot. Vunder is heir apparent to the Gorvos line. Clad in underhive finery, Vunder genuinely believes himself a hive noble on the same level as House Helmawr. He mimics any noble fashions he happens to hear about, and goes out his way to antagonize those who don’t properly respect his position. Needless to say, he is universally despised and has survived only by virtue of his linage. Vunder’s sister Gaen Gorvos has been working for years to rid her family of him out of secondhand embarrassment. On the pretext of having him prove his noble superiority, Gaen organizes alliances with local gangs, whereby Vunder will accompany them on business important to the family. So far, Vunder has been hired out to numerous local factions, though much to Gaen’s frustration, has yet to get himself killed. Vunder is armed with an elegant master-crafted Sword, as well as two master-crafted Stub Guns in holsters and a belt-slung Lever-Action Shotgun.

On the other hand of the spectrum, there is Gaen Gorvos, who is far more capable than her brother in every metric. Unlike her brother, who spends his time hob-nobbing with fellow faux-nobility, Gaen remains focused on earning cold-hard credits for her family. She oversees the manufacture of Gunk for the Gorvos Clan and also outfits her gangers with Gunk Rounds and Gunk Bombs, and Gaen even laces her throwing knives with the lethal stuff. These skills have not only allowed her to claim leadership of her clan, but also has led Gaen to be known as the Gunk Queen. She is armed with a master-crafted Sword, an Autogun, toxin-laced Throwing Knives, and her trademark Gunk Bombs.

Overview[edit]

These two are brought in for one thing and one thing only. Gaen's Gunk Bombs. At 40 credits for purchase, you earn yourself a very useful defensive grenade that fucks up close-combat charges and makes the target extra flammable. House Goliath and the Corpse Grinder Cults cry themselves to sleep whenever they get doused in a literal can of shit as all their charges gets fucking ruined.

However, as aforementioned, the siblings are NOT true Ammo-Jacks and lack many of the rules that makes them Ammo-Jacks. The only reason they are here is because Gaen acts as a weapons vendor which, by definition, counts her as somewhat of an Ammo-Jack for a very specific niche of weaponry. De facto, they count as mercenaries. It's kind of weird.

By themselves, they are pretty decent fighters. For as much of an idiot Vunder is in his quest for eternal LARP, he is able to stand his ground, with his sister's Gunk Bombs being a perpetual pain in the ass to deal with. Definitely a decent force multiplier.
