Now that's a face that came out from Scream!

The Angel's Tears, also known as the Erelim, Broken Blade, Silver Masks, or Dead Hand, were warriors of the Blood Angels during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. They were effectively the Vampire's version of a Destroyer Squad, but with more unique gimmicks. More can be read below.

Overview[edit]

Unlike conventional Destroyer Squads, these guys were equipped with Jump Packs to quickly get into the situation and lay unholy waste upon the enemies of mankind. Each individual warrior bore the title Erelim and served as Sanguinius' personal bench pressers for folks deemed too irredeemable for even someone as bro-tier as Papa Sang to tolerate. In such instances, the Great Angel promptly went "Fuck this!" and goes mask off with his nice guy facade to fuck things up. They were among the most commonly seen warriors of the Innermost "Sphere" of the Legion, serving the role of Destroyers.

Befitting their dark duty, they wore silver death masks etched with oaths of retribution. As with the other warriors of the First "Sphere" of the Blood Angels, such as the Sanguinary Guard and Crimson Paladins, the Angel's Tears forsook their old names and identities and took up new ritual titles, symbolic of their new roles as true Angels of Death. Angel's Tears were said to eventually return to normal Legion service, removing their death masks and taking up their old names. This was to distance them from the death and slaughter they caused while serving as the Angel's Tears. Confusingly enough or maybe because of Plot Armor, members of the Angel's Tears don't really contract Cancer despite using the same radioactive weapons as other Destroyer Squads. Maybe their bishie vampire sparkles proved too HAWT for Cancer to spread?

The Angel's Tears took to the field only at the direct order of Sanguinius himself, only when the complete destruction of an enemy was deemed necessary. They were armed with a variety of taboo and exotic weapons such as Rad Missile Launchers, Phosphex Grenades, Volkite Serpentas, Chainswords and the Blood Angels exclusive Rad Grenade Launchers. They can sometimes swap out their 'standard-issue' weapons for Melta Bombs, Heavy Flamers, Iliastus Assault Cannons, Rotor Cannons or a Heavy Chainsword. The leading Arch-Erelim on the other hand, can exchange his Chainsword for a Heavy Chainsword, Power Fist, Thunder Hammer, a Lightning Claw or a Power Weapon, he can also trade one or both Volkite Serpentas for Plasma Pistols.

As folks within the innermost sphere of Papa Sang's cohort, they all wore sick-ass Artificer Armour (Maybe that could be the reason why they avoided radiation poisoning).

Crunch[edit]

On the tabletop, they are the Blood Angels-exclusive Destroyers that come stock with two Volkite Serpentas, Chainswords, Rad Grenades and jump packs by default. Any model can exchange one Serpenta for Heavy Flamers, Iliastus Assault Cannons (yes, the whole squad can take them), Rotor Cannons, Heavy Chainswords or an Angel`s Tears Grenade Launchers, which are S4, AP4, 24" Assault 3 Rad Weapons with Rad-phage and Fleshbane. The entire unit can also take Melta Bombs for 25 points. In short, they are a lot more shooty than the basic Destroyer Assault Squad and better in most situations.
