A race of frogmen native to the Shadowfell, who creep forth in the darkness to spirit away the living. Invented in Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition in the Monster Manual 3, they got an Ecology article in Dungeon Magazine #195 and were subsequently stolen into Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.
And Now, a Poem[edit]
Taken From "Ecology of the Banderhob", Dungeon #195:
- “Without word,
- Seldom heard,
- Banderhobbs creep
- From shadows deep
- In voiceless night
- When stars alight
- Upon the bleak and moonless blight.”
- “Their tongues ensnare
- The unaware,
- Their clutching claws
- Crush bones like straws;
- They bolt their prey
- And stoop away
- Before the dawning break of day.”
- "No one knows
- Where banderhobb goes;
- Leaving no trace
- Of the place no-place—
- Just a trackless trail
- Where shadows prevail
- Beyond the ever-darkened veil."''
