Background[edit]

Within the dank streets of Nexus, there lived two men. Prodigies of their time, they were; they had learned how to bend steel; how to make it move, watching it endure all the hell they put men through. The first was known as Light Upon the Eastern Shore; later to join the ranks of the returning Solar Exalted as one of the Twilight Caste, and a man of firm conviction and strong character. The other would become the Abyssal known as Wily Hyena; it was he with the sly demeanor and dangerous ambition to rise above the rest of humanity.

The two left Nexus, with a small entourage of the torn and battered citizens of its slums and their dreams in tow. They slowly began construction of their new city; the two collaborated on the construction and blueprints, but it was halfway through development that the two came at odds. In the end, it was he-who-would-become Wily Hyena that inevitably turned the people of their new city against Light Upon the Shore, stealing all of his machines and creations and refitting them to more malicious purpose. Years later, no one would be left who could remember how the city had fallen under darkness, at the very least, no one who would do anything. Crude as they were, no one would oppose his robots, no one would challenge their power - not in small the darkness-shrouded settlement hidden away in the more-obscure and less-habitable edges of the Scavenger Lands, where Immaculate zealot and battle-mad Lookshyan commander alike where scarce and far between.

...Or so he believed.

On a cold, dark night, in the year 45X, he found he was very wrong. The first assault had failed; a construct of red jade known as the First Bringer of Justice had attacked his fortress and quickly put down. It was then that he learned that Light Upon the Shore had returned, not just that, but as more than a man. Exalt. Anathema. Twilight. The terms; they all meant the same thing, and it made no difference: Even now, against this fledgling champion and former-associate, he was invincible. That was what he thought, anyway; at least before the man of blue jade arrived at his doorstep. Even when he dares to acknowledge the failed hubris of his old life, all he can remember is the name of his most hated enemy: Magnificent Emissary of Applied Force; or so the populace knew him: MEGA.

But Wily, Wily had returned. Under service of the Mask Of Winters, he was granted a small shadowland, a new realm of influence, the power to truly rise above the world, not lord over some small town in an obscure corner of the Scavenger Lands. He would build eight new robots of his own, ready to challenge MEGA and his creator.

Appearance[edit]

Wily Hyena is a rather old-looking man; standing at merely a few inches past five and a half feet tall. Though he is thin and balding, bearing just a tad of a hunch in his back, he bears swift, ghost-like limbs befitting of any competent engineer or surgeon, and the grin and gleam in his eye belie his dangerous wit and cunning. Like wild, unkempt bushes, the remains of his greyed hair stick out from behind either end of his balding head, and he possesses a moustache equally-wild and devious. Draped around his shoulders is a lab coat of ghastly white, beneath that, little more than the simple shirt, tie, and trousers of any relatively well-off technician working for a thousand year-old ghost filled with enough malice and grudges to tear the world itself apart.

  • (Occult) Through Dead Eyes (Abil 5, Ess 2): 6m, Reflexive, Mirror, Scenelong. User may see motes, Essence-fueled effects, and invisible but magical creatures and effects. These things become valid Awareness rolls. All Charms become Obvious to the user, and beings of Essence 4+ are immediately obvious as supernatural creatures - adding the target's Essence as bonus dice to the Awareness roll to see them if they are using stealth. Similarly, this does not automatically pierce magical disguises or illusions, though the character may gain bonuses to see through them. Finally, the target may roll (Int+Occult) to consciously analyze what he sees - gauging the effects of a Charm is Difficulty 5, and gauging the rating of a person's Essence trait, a manse, demense, or an Artifact is Difficulty 2.
  • (Occult) Shadowlands Circle Necromancy (Abil 3, Ess 3): Allows shaping and casting of Necromancy. Decay: Though he remains fairly spry (in a creepy sort of undead way), Wily Hyena has allowed much of his limbs and body to wither and grow brittle, leaving him as fragile as he is weak.
  • (Dodge) Flitting Shadow Form (Ess 1, Abil 3): 1m, Reflexive, C-OK, Mirror: Removes penalties to Dodge DV on the character for one attack.
  • (Shadowlands Necromancy) Shattering Void Mirror: 20m, One living Creature. The caster rips the target's being apart with opposing essence drawn from the Void, dealing twice the victim's Health Levels in damage dice, ignoring Armor, and they loose twice their permanent Essence from their mote pools (Peripheral before Personal.)

Inventory[edit]

Portable Face Disassembler (V. Small Essence Cannon) A handheld tube of soulsteel with other jade alloys bearing Wily Hyena's signature skull emblem in pale, white jade, this essence-discharge weapon is excellent at doing its namesake, among other unpleasant things.

Soulsteel Hearthstone Bracers - Though one may not guess it from his two-faced nature, Wily has a strong personal ethic of only using murderous tools and other creations sketched out in his own personal designs - pale iterations of others' inferior-quality creations are utterly unacceptable. These protective bracers bear a sharp, sleek, minimalist, utilarian design (perhaps to save on precious materials), with the hearthstone-bearing bracer once again bearing his mark; the socket for the hearthstone is cleverly-placed inside of the skull's mouth. Not an inch of the protective ornaments' make goes to waste on frivolous things such as 'being spiky' or wasting time doing silly things like sketching the names of people you murdered to make them in.

Exceptional Breastplate - For self-defense, Wily keeps a well-forged, solid steel breastplate concealed under his lab coat. ITS METAL IS COLD AS THE DARKNESS IN YOUR HEEEAAAART or something. It has +1's distributed to soaks and mobility.


Manses and Hearthstones[edit]

Wily's Castle (Earth Manse 3) This looming, technological fortress is carved into the side of a mountain in the southern Scavenger Lands, and serves as Wily Hyena's main base of operations - on the outside, it is difficult to scale and penetrate, and on the inside, it is littered with all manner of lethal traps, such as deadly spikes, cleverly-placed guardians, and more spikes except placed in really bullshit positions. It has the following features:
