Background[edit]
Gandar has led a fairly long and interesting life by mortal standards. A mortal born in Lookshy to a family of no particular import, Gandar managed nonetheless to excel academically and gain considerable clout as a scholar. In his quest for knowledge, Gandar often traveled and had many opportunities to witness the deplorable state of Creation. Some might have chosen then to try and act, to change things for the better despite the odds so heavily stacked against them. Such a person would have exalted, but that person was not Gandar. He did not act, he merely watched with sadness and wrote of what he witnessed in his notes.
Gandar was an old man now, having lived to a rather prodigious age (for a mortal in Creation) of 70 years. He was full of regrets, regrets for not trying to do something, that Creation my very well be destroyed and he just... sat by.
And then one day a demon came to his door (not actually that uncommon an occurrence for Gandar, whose general breadth of knowledge even sorcerers often found useful to reference. Sometimes they would send a demon to get the information), a perronele. As it turned out, it was not sent by a sorcerer, but by Malfeas, to try and recruit Gandar, who had the makings of a great Infernal Exalt. His regrets still fresh on his mind and seeing a chance to make right what he originally failed to do (even if working for the Yozi to do it may cause... complications), Gandar readily accepted.
Having studied in the libraries of Malfeas, Gandar is now more knowledgeable than ever and has every intention of putting it to use. Having had a chance to observe Malfeas, he sees the potential for the guardian Creation needs, if only Malfeas can somehow be brought out of his self-pity and rage. Gandar likes Ligier, seeing in him many of the positive aspects of Malfeas and a possible ally in reforming Malfeas as something more than he currently is.
While studying in Malfeas, Gandar met Dancer and the two quickly became good friends thanks to their shared desire to see the Yozi restored to a better state than their current spiteful hatred.
More recently, Gandar was assigned as the Infernal liaison to The First and Forsaken Lion. However, recent information he has received has led him to suggest an expedition to scope out Gem, as his sources suggest that now would be the time to strike.
Coadjutor: The perroneles sent to recruit Gandar (named Orthos) approves of his motivation, seeing itself as a protector and guardian as well. Orthos offers a morale rapport and a solid adviser in the art of defending both oneself and others. Orthos will often recount tales of those whom he has acted as armor for, a fairly interesting assortment of sorcerers and fellow demons.
Appearance[edit]
Although his lifespan is now greatly extended, the process of becoming an Infernal Exalt did not remove the signs of his former mortal age: His hair is gray and his face has wrinkles here and there. Gandar typically has something of a grim and serious expression, though he is not humorless and has been known to laugh every once in a while when a situation warranted it.
